An article on sex, seduction and lingerie. It shows how a lingerie is inevitably associated with the vulgar and the profane and how the society layers it with social stigma. Sometimes there are two ways of seeing things, the orthodox and the diverse way. Now, with lingerie- bras, ladies panty, ladies underwear, other types of innerwear; nightwear and any apparel that is even remotely intimate, the fingers always point towards the side that is less positive. Although they are essential and indispensable pieces of clothing, and play an integral role in preserving one’s honour and modesty, they can raise eyebrows, too. Talking about them in the open can be almost like a sacrilege and a blasphemy for many. Often you would see people making their displeasure known if you utter the words ‘bra’, ‘panty’; you would be either signalled to lower your voice or talk about it when men are not around. This is perhaps because bras, ladies underwear and other intimate apparels are important tools of seduction. Not only that, they are closely linked with sex. In our society, seduction, sadly enough is more often than not associated with the vulgar, the profane, the provocative and the immoral, and discussing about sex is no less of a taboo as well. The conservatives and the orthodox, the self proclaimed moral police and the protectors of the society, fail to understand that seduction does not always have to be about sex. It does not necessarily indicate corruption of the mind, degeneration of moral values. It can also be about power and manipulation, about love and romance. They choose to ignore the truth that there is nothing evil about the desire to enchant and to captivate and that there is nothing wrong to feel wanted and to make somebody crave for you. They fail to see that these are instincts that are very much human and are but natural- as natural as the other emotions and elements that storm our mind and run through our veins. The self proclaimed protectors of the society need to accept that sex has to come out of the closet and shed its layers of shame. That it can no more be the forbidden act. It is an act through which the human race procreates. So it needs to be treated differently and given its share of respect. There is no shame and no harm in it. With the times changing, they need to transform themselves and remove this air of uneasiness that shrouds the environment at the mention of words like bras, panties, sex and seduction. An article that goes on to show how intimate apparels like lingerie- bras, ladies panty, camisoles, slips, ladies underwear, nightwear and the like are often associated with sex, seduction and all things profane.
