The ending of a serious relationship or marriage can never be an easy task to handle. Whether you wanted a breakup or not, the entire process can turn your entire world upside down. Not only is the pain of the entire process unbearable but even moving on from your past-relationships can be a very hard thing to do. However, once you get over the difficult phase, you will find that you have learned a lot from the entire experience and have grown wiser and stronger as a human being. Refrain from fighting your feelings- Normally, there are and will be many ups and downs and it is perfectly fine for you to feel lots of conflicting and different emotions like sadness, resentment, anger, confusion, relief and fear. The main important thing is to identify these feelings and acknowledge them. You have to remember that these emotions will be painful but you will simply prolong your grieving process if you keep on suppressing or ignoring them. Talking about your feelings- Sometimes, it is really difficult to talk about the various feelings that are going on inside you with other people. But, regardless of that, you must talk when in the middle of the grieving process. Sharing your feelings with people and making them aware will relieve some of your loneliness and pain and help you heal better. If talking is not for you, look for other ways to communicate like journalism which will act as an outlet for your emotions and feelings and help you get over your past-relationships faster. Moving on- You will feel liberated by expressing your sentiments and feelings but you should not over-analyze situations or circumstances or dwell on negative feelings. Get out of feelings like anger, blame and resentment as those will rob your valuable energy and your healing process will be prevented and you will not be able to move forward. Rooting for the future- When committing to somebody, many dreams and hopes are created and they might be hard to let go of. While grieving for the loss of future envisioned by you, you should also have the hope that new dreams will replace the old ones with time. Spending time with supportive people- Reach out to people who value, energize and support you wholeheartedly. You should be careful to be surrounded by only those people who will actually listen to you and will be positive. You should be able to honestly express your feelings without being worried about criticisms and judgments. Cultivating new friendships- Has your breakup resulted in the loss of social network? Then make an effort and meet new people. Join special interest clubs or networking groups, take part in community activities, take classes – whatever you will be comfortable in and enjoy yourself doing.
