This month Community Outreach – Sandy, a group of community-service oriented businesses in Sandy Utah, is hosting a free workshop for the community to help children improve their lives through proper nutrition. Childhood obesity is a growing problem in the United States, and Community Outreach – Sandy wants to help the community by teaching children and their parents how to properly take care of their bodies, especially during the holiday season. The US government has declared obesity a national epidemic. Nearly one in three children in America are overweight or obese. During the past three decades, childhood obesity rates in America have tripled. It is considered to be the number one cause of disease and death in the United States. It is linked to developing depression and low self-esteem in children. Obese children have a 70% chance of remaining obese even in their adulthood. “Utah’s Leading Family Safety Expert” Brett Lechtenberg will be teaching this course and he will cover not just good eating habits, but also good fitness habits. Brett Lechtenberg has been empowering children and their families to make positive changes in their lives for the past 25 years. He will teach the kids who attend, and their parents, some fun fitness activities and powerful exercises. He will also go over health and nutrition, mental strategies to be successful, and encourage kids and parents to become fit and eat healthier in a cool and fun way. This fun, interactive workshop will be offered on Saturday November 16 at 10:15am. It will be at Personal Mastery Martial Arts in Sandy, Utah.
