Safari in Kenya, Adventure at the Heart of Nature

Travel & Tourism
It is no accident that Kenya offers some of the world’s most exciting and thrilling safaris. Even the word “safari” comes from Swahili and it means “journey”. When you think of a safari in Kenya, you can almost already see a herd of wary wildebeests crossing a river, zebras walking across the savannah, and lions walking majestically across the territory that belongs to them. Some of the most interesting areas in Kenya are the Masai Mara Reservation, the Amboseli National Park, and the Lake Nakuru National Park. The Masai Mara Reservation One of the largest reservations in Africa, Masai Mara hosts an extremely wide range of animals and birds. One of the really fabulous ‘shows’ to witness here is the natural migration of hundreds of thousands of wildebeests. From July to October, more than 1.3 million wildebeests come together in a single flock, attracted by the promise of rain and fresh grass that will serve them as food. Until they reach the plains which provide food, the antelopes face countless dangers, which include being stalked by lions, leopards and other predators. Once they reach the river Mara, the antelopes regroup on its shores and then dive into waters. There, they expect new hazards such as strong undercurrents or ruthless crocodiles. Each year, the fascinating show is watched by locals, but also by foreign tourists, some of whom pay thousands of Euros to watch the wildebeests from their cars or balloons.

A wildlife safari among is among the foremost activities that attract thousands of visitors to the Masai Mara: lions, whether in action or enjoying their siesta in the shade, cheetahs, gazelles, giraffes – they are all in their natural habitat and will amaze you every step of the way. They will make you feel closer to nature and to yourself.

Amboseli National Park

With an area of over 400 square kilometers, bordering Tanzania, Amboseli is known worldwide through one representative image: herds of elephants moving slowly, with the snow-covered peaks of the highest mountain in Africain the background: the Kilimanjaro. Over 900 African huge, gentle elephants delight the lovers of nature that come here.

Lake Nakuru National Park

The iconic image for Lake Nakuru involves a flock of hundreds of flamingos covering the lake. Elegant and light, they watch (with slight arrogance) the tourists who watch them, fascinated by the beauty that unfolds before their eyes. If you catch them in peak season, you'll have the chance to see more than one million flamingos gathered on the lake. And next to them, half a million pelicans. The show is unique and miraculous. Hippos, antelopes, the largest population of rhinos in Kenya (including white rhinos), buffalos, Rothschild giraffes and other endangered species are all part of the this wonderful adventure.

The Masaicommunity

Something you have onlyread about in a tips and tricks travel magazine, but have a chance to see in Kenya is the incredible Masai population. You simply cannot leave Africawithout meeting a few Masai community representatives. Independent people, fond of their traditions, they consider themselves one with the earth. Meanwhile, the land is part of their lives. Since harmony with nature and wild animals occupy an important place in their beliefs, you will rarely see a Masai hunting. If you are a fan of homeopathy and traditional medicine, you have come to the right place in Kenya. In the Masai culture, the use of plants as medicine plays an important role. The practice continues to this day, and the teachings are transmitted to interested tourists.
