It was a wonderful experience for our family of four on the recent trip to Shimla. The toy train, the dense cedar and pine forests, and the Himalayas in the back drop all added to romance of this tranquil sanctuary in the mountains. The old-world charm of Shimla and Mashobra has to be experienced to be believed! We knew that an exiting holiday was in the offing the moment we boarded the legendary toy train. The spectacular view of the mountains and the greenery more than took our breath away as the train started ‘climbing’ the hills. This amazing train journey from Kalka to Shimla gave us picture perfect memories we are not going to forget for the rest of our lives! On arrival at The Oberoi Wildflower Hall, Shimla, we were introduced to the fine art of hospitality perfected over the years. The staff was friendly and never missed an opportunity to smile. They were there when we needed them and just disappeared into thin air when we wanted to be by ourselves! The second floor rooms proved to be just the right place to stay at Wildflower Hall. They literally lived up to the phrase, ‘room with a view’ as they overlooked the immaculately kept gardens below. The furnishing and the decor reminded us of the opulence of the colonial era. Surely, it is the majestic ambiance that gives the Wildflower Hall the edge over any brick and mortar hotels we had ever stayed. The breakfast was one meal we enjoyed every day on our three-day sojourn. There were a whole lot of options to choose from be it the menu or the buffet on offer. You could even have an combination of both. The terrace that gives a spectacular views of the mountains was the place to be at early in the morning! You never really get tired of the mountains and it was hard for us to pull ourselves away from the breakfast table! There are a host of activities indoors including spa and jacuzzi. Though you could indulge is free style swimming or back strokes in the pool, it is advisable to be cautious as the altitude could really play spoilsport with the mountain air making you breathless! The hotel could set you up for outdoor activities including white-water rafting and mountain biking. We just checked out some of the trails and it was a walk we thoroughly enjoyed. The staff was more than helping and gave us clear directions as to how to go about it. Shimla is a great destination for a short getaway and there are many hotels that could host you in Shimla. Among them, legendary hospitality and the old-world charm makes Wildflower Hall the pick of the lot if you are planning a vacation in Shimla. Holidays in Shimla will never be the again if you choose to stay at this magnificent property! Because the mountains will rejuvenate you and The Oberoi will treat you like a royal!
