If you love to have hot showers, chances are you end up with a pretty steamy bathroom. Steamy bathrooms can be a problem when you need to use it for other purposes, such as putting on make-up or having a shave. If you have ever experienced problem "fogging" with your bathroom due to hot showers, read on for five great tips in clearing your bathroom of the problem. Solution 1: Wipe down surfaces with vinegar Albeit a slightly smelly solution, vinegar works surprisingly well at reducing steam fog from your bathroom surfaces. Mix up a 50-50 solution of vinegar and water and then pour the solution into an old spray bottle. Spray the surfaces in your bathroom with the solution and then wipe down with a towel until nice and polished. The surfaces should now stay fog and steam-proof for several days. The vinegar smell disappears in an hour or so, but if the smell bothers you, you can counteract the vinegar scent by adding fresh lemon to the mixture. This mixture works best on bathroom mirrors and glass shower doors, including custom shower doors such as etched glass and frameless shower doors. Solution 2: Car de-fogger Car de-fogger spray works very well in bathrooms. De-fogger is made from silicon surfactants that work by reducing surface tension on glass, causing the water to spread out more evenly over the surface. Simply wipe down the surfaces in your bathroom clean with a cloth first, then apply the de-fogger liquid onto the surface. This solution should last for several weeks and can be re-applied once the surfaces begin to steam and fog up again. Solution 3: Toothpaste It may seem surprising, but simply using a small amount of toothpaste can help to stop glass and mirrors from steaming up. Just place a small amount of toothpaste onto a soft cloth and wipe over the surface of the area you wish to remain steam and fog free. Next, buffer the surface clean with the cloth. The surface should remain fog free for several weeks. Solution 4: Shaving cream Shaving cream is another surprising solution for preventing foggy surfaces. All you need to do is lather up some shaving cream prior to taking a shower, and then spread over your mirror and wipe off with a towel. After you have taken your shower you will notice that your mirror is steam and fog free. The other surprising element is that it is likely to remain steam and fog free for weeks to come. Solution 5: Blow dry Blow drying the fogged up surface, such as a mirror, will have it fog-free in a matter of moments. Work the hair dryer over the surface in an up and down motion until the steam begins to clear. The steam should clear fairly fast and will remain that way until the next time you shower. Remember that this technique only works each time you take a shower, so if you wish for a longer lasting solution it is best if you choose from one of the solutions above. Frameless glass showers are great for your rooms as they are not only easy to maintain, but are appealing and an interesting feature for your bathrooms.
