A server is a computer or device on a network that manages network resources. It can be run on a dedicated computer by installing a server program. Servers are running to serve the requests of other programs or client. Private and Public network can control by itself. Types of servers are database, file, mail, print, web, gaming, application, or some other kind of server. A web server is a program that delivers Web pages and serves the files that form Web pages to Web users whose computers contain HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol) clients that forward their requests. Every computer on the Internet contains a Web site must have a Webserver program. There are two leading Web servers and they are Apache the most widely-installed Web server, and Microsoft's Internet Information Server ( IIS ). There are also other Web servers include Novell's Web Server for users of its NetWare operating system and IBM's family of Lotus Domino servers. The computer can be turned into a Web server by installing server software and connecting the machine to the Internet. For local use XAMPP and WAMP software can create a webserver for developers. For example, the domain name example.com translates to the addresses 192.0.43.10 (IPv4) and 2001:500:88:200:10 (IPv6). Before the DNS was invented in 1982, each computer on the network retrieved a file called HOSTS.TXT from a computer at Stanford Research Institute International. The Internet maintains two principal namespaces, the domain name hierarchy, and the IP address space. The Domain Name System maintains the domain name hierarchy and provides translation services between it and the address spaces. DNS support a multi-stakeholder approach to the coordination to ensure the long-term viability of the Internet as a force for innovation and economic growth. A dedicated server is also known as a dedicated hosting service, managed collocation, or managed hosting service the leases of an entire server not shared with anyone other than the client, which is a type of Internet hosting. A dedicated server is more flexible than the shared hosting. In the Web hosting business, a dedicated server is typically a rented service. The customer pays a monthly, quarterly or yearly fee inclusive of the cost of renting the dedicated server.
