[Credit:Bacteria] While our sister blog Game On might be going on about the future of video games at E3 andsomething called the MiiVerse, I would like to direct yourattention to this awesome retro gaming tower by a modder nicknamed Bacteria that will incorporate just about every system ever made. This is not simple PC tower loaded with every single piece ofemulation software. Bacteria 's tower, called Project Unity (formally the Alpha Omega Project), combines 20 original consoleboards stacked on top of each other into a single unit. The whole thing is not simply compartmentalized, either; theunified system runs off of a single power supply, feeds to a singlevideo output, and is controlled by one custom-made controller. [Credit:Bacteria] The controller itself is also a custom job that Bacteria moldedhimself, with buttons hacked from a range of other controllers.Bacteria can swap out controller s compatibility on the fly usingthe different NES cartridges that are equipped with the system scontroller brains. According to Bacteria, he has been working on the project sinceFriday May 28, 2010. Here s the list of consoles he s got workingand installed already, along with ones that are still on the way. Sega Master System (done, not added into system yet) Nintendo NES (done, not added into system yet) Mattel Intellivision Nintendo GameCube (and GBA via GBA Player) Amiga CD32 Philips CD-i PlayStation 2 (also plays PlayStation 1 games) These ones are still in the works: SNK NeoGeo Sega MegaDrive Amstrad GX4000 Nintendo 64 Sega Saturn Sega Dreamcast ColecoVision Nintendo SNES NEC TurboGrafx/PC Engine Atari 7800 (also plays Atari 2600 games) Atari Jaguar Bacteria hopes to finish the system by the end of the year or intothe beginning of 2013.
