NHRA Pro Mod - Troy Coughlin Races To Pro Mod Finale At Englishtown ENGLISHTOWN, June 4, 2012: The plan that Troy Coughlin drew up atthe beginning of the NHRA Pro Mod Series presented by ProCare Rxseason for his turbocharged JEGS.com Chevy Camaro finally tookshape on Sunday at the Toyota NHRA SuperNationals at Old BridgeTownship Raceway Park. Coughlin finished runner-up to Danny Rowe in the finals, but moreimportantly the car and team functioned near flawlessly in theeffort. "These guys have been thrashing like mad to get the car to gostraight on all four wheels," Coughlin said. "We were able to keepit under control and manage the power today. They gave me the bestcar they could give me. "This is the way I envisioned we'd start the season off, but it'sjust taken a little while to get to where we're at. I couldn't behappier with this effort." In the final, the JEGS.com Camaro was a little too anxious to getoff the line, and Coughlin red-lit by -.113 seconds. Rowe's passwas a 5.910-second lap at 239.57 mph. After seeing that Rowe cut adismal .164-second light himself, Coughlin was left thinking whatcould have been. "Everything went as planned in the final round, it was just time togo in my head, I guess," Coughlin said. "I looked at Danny'sreaction time, I was like, 'Wow we could have ran like 6.10 andstill won.' But it's over and we left before he was late. That mayhave thrown him off." After beating championship contender Leah Pruett on a holeshotSaturday night, Coughlin got a free pass to the semis afterquarterfinals opponent Mike Janis wasn't able to answer the call torace. Then the JEGS car beat Kenny Lang in the semis to set up theshowdown with Rowe. "We had a nice break in the second round," Coughlin said. "Idon't know what happened to Mike's car, but it was nice toget that break. Our car still isn't 100 percent happy, andeverybody knows we've got a long way to go. "We had good reaction times until the final and just overall wemade really good runs. I'm real excited about the direction we'reheaded." With the Bristol race coming up in a couple of weeks, Coughlin saidit's nice to have a little momentum on his side. "We've beat some tough people this weekend," he said. "We made anice gain in points, cracking the Top 10. We're all looking forwardto the next race already.".
