Cons: Somewhere out there, somebody else has your exact house. It may not look precisely the same, since many of the finishes will be different, but the basic design will be the same. Further, many people who invest in building their own home do so because they have a specific piece of property they like, or because they have some special needs they want to have accommodated. A production home, unless you stumble upon exactly the right design, may not incorporate everything you want into it.
