Knowing Your Engine Options and Why Remanufactured Engines Top Them All

Automotive
When your vehicle halts in the middle of busy traffic, you can either blame your bad luck or your engine. If you think the culprit is the latter, it’s about time to know what your engine options are to prevent other disastrous and potentially embarrassing street scenes. You may consider these options: replace the car with a new one, replace the engine with a new one, buy a second hand engine or buy a remanufactured engine.

Of course, each option has its own highlights and drawbacks. If you’re quite attached to your vehicle, letting it go can be difficult for you. If you don’t have the finances at the moment, you might not be able to afford a new car or a new engine. That leaves you with two options: second hand engines or remanufactured engines. But money-wise, which will give you the best value?

An old engine would normally cost less, but many drivers, mechanics and vehicle owners would say to choose remanufactured engines. Remanufactured or rebuilt engines are basically old engines that have been sent back to the manufacturer to have it spruced back to life. For instance, an older model Chevy 2000 engine may be shipped to the remanufactured engine company where a certified Chevy mechanic will inspect the extent of wear and damages. The mechanic will then work on the engine by replacing old and damaged parts, clean the interior, test the engine, work on it again, clean it again and test the engine again. Basically, remanufacturing an engine is a very extensive process because the goal is to improve the vehicle’s performance and increase its value.

Performance is something many drivers and car owners appreciate. Whether the vehicle starts right away without a sound or accelerates cleanly and quickly onto the freeway, a well-performing vehicle most likely has a well-performing engine. You would seldom get well-performing old engines, but remanufactured engines will almost always assure you that you get the best value for your money.

Cost-efficiency is another reason why opting for rebuilt engines is a good move. You certainly won’t get a brand new engine, but you’d definitely have one that’s up to par with the current models, at a lesser expense. Compared to old and worn engines, using a rebuilt engine would certainly give you better mileage, help conserve energy and produce lesser pollutants. If you are aiming for that “brand-new experience” without breaking the bank, then remanufacturing your engine could be your best bet. As a bonus to improved performance, increased value and cost-efficiency, most companies providing remanufactured engines to their customers also offer warranties, typically for 12 months or more, or depending on the mileage. This should give the customer a sense of security. If you ever feel dissatisfied, you can ship it to the company and they’ll fix it for you, free of charge.

Knowing what your engine options are allows you to arrive at the soundest decision when you take cost, reliability, and performance into consideration.
