How To Break It Gently

Dating,Relationships
When you join the field of online dating, rejection will be no stranger to you. You either reject someone or you get rejected. It is expected that you will get on both boats all at the same time. As in real life, there are people you want to be with and those you would rather have not to deal with. So how do you dish out rejection, clearly but as politely as possible?

Make sure the message is clear
There are smart guys and there are just those who can't get it the first time. When you politely decline, some could not get the hint and would opt to get the red mark X, straight to the heart. But lets face it, whatever situation you are in, it is important that he understands the message. The only way to do this is to ensure that you don't have mixed feelings. Guilt tripping is a guy's strategy to get you to change your 'no' into a 'yes'. So be certain about your feelings for the other party. You have no right to play with someone's heart just because you are unsure about what you want.

Deliver it politely
The advantage of online dating is its ability to assist users to express themselves more freely. Sometimes, what you can't say in person is easier when you do it through a medium. Taking time to consider your tone would be very effective. Do not sound condescending and never patronize. Expressing remorse to the extent that it will sound like a message of pity is a no, no. Put yourself in the other party's shoes and ask yourself if you would prefer to be rejected in that manner. There is no easy way to break somebody's heart. So make it civil and refined.

Compassion goes a long way
Sometimes, when you know you hold a soft spot in the other person's heart, a certain arrogance builds within you. It will dictate your interaction. More often, than not, it will make you believe that you have the right to treat him or her in a certain manner that could evoke all sorts of emotions from the other party. Beware. You have to go outside of your hear and be bigger person than yourself. Otherwise, it will breed nothing but contempt. There is nothing more admirable than your ability to be compassionate. It will bring you to greater height you never wrought of.

Consistency is the key
Mixed signals are what kills it. Rejection can work for you or against you. It will make you a heart breaker one moment and as jaded the next day. You say you are not ready to be in a serious relationship, but you still continue to send her IMs and call her through the dating website. If you have conflicting interests, then stop the communication. The heart, no matter how you say it and whatever you do, has its ways to feel hopeful. A little attention, a curt reply, and a slight smile could mean a million for a heart that is eager to change yours. So stay steady and unmoving. It will hurt him or her now, but is the best help you can give.

There are a hundred possible ways that could happen to you online, but it will lead to only one, your love quest. So stay true with what you feel.
