The AP1 is a multi-material iron that uses tungsten weighting to progressively lower the center of gravity as you go from short irons to long irons. This helps you flatten out your shot shape and control your short irons while providing the help many players need launching the long irons. Titleist calls the Titleist AP1 714 irons its longest, most forgiving iron. The AP1 might make you feel more confident in choosing a 4 or 5 iron over a higher lofted hybrid, and eliminate some of those "weird" shots when the hybrid bounces off the turf, or you're afraid to swing down and through and you catch the leading edge. The long irons (3, 4 and 5) have the deepest undercut cavity with the thinnest faces for more ballspeed, and tungsten weights plugged into the toe for greater forgiveness. Shorter irons have no undercut cavity, thicker faces and no tungsten weights for greater workability. Compared with the Titleist 712 AP1 irons, the 714 AP1s have a more blunted leading edge and more camber in the sole to help improve turf interaction, and they're one degree stronger. The design of both is built around progressive center-of-gravity positions, interior tungsten weighting, and head shaping, all with clubhead sizes and blade lengths that are, Titleist says, "preferred by serious golfers." The AP1s have a new, deep undercut cavity, with a lower center of gravity to help boost launch angle. The CG is higher in the short irons, and the short irons also have 1-degree stronger lofts than traditional, to help lower trajectory for more control on short shots. The shorts irons also have thicker upper faces and narrower soles than the long and mid-irons. The cheap titleist ap2 714 is a multi-material, forged set of irons designed around trajectory control and workability within its distance-and-forgiveness design. The upper cavity in the AP2 irons is 25-percent thinner compared to the AP1s; the topline is thinner in the AP2s; the AP2 short irons have a more compact profile.
