If you’re a parent, you’ve probably had the dilemma of whether to vaccinate your baby or not. For some it’s an easy decision. For others, it’s difficult, especially with new information constantly surfacing on the Internet. Even if you’re not yet a parent, I hope my perspective will help you make a more informed decision on behalf of your loved one’s life. are vaccinations safe Is Vaccination Necessary? This question was very personal to me as my wife recently gave birth to a beautiful boy. Making a decision that will affect the life of someone so dear is tough so I wanted to make the best choice I can. Since my involvement with alkalife I’ve learned so much more about health than I used to know. The more I learn, the more I come to the conclusion that the medical industry is designed to keep you sick although they are excellent at putting you back together if you’ve had an accident. Maybe it’s because of this preconception that I’ve come to the same conclusion about vaccinations. Around 90 per cent of children are immunised in Australia but there’s an increasing trend not to vaccinate with good reason. I don’t find the information provided convincing enough. Can vaccines be credited with the dramatic reduction of childhood illnesses? I don’t think so. Greg Beattie writes in Vaccination, A Parent’s Dilemma (Oracle Press, Queensland, Australia, pp. 36-57) that “the major diseases on the planet declined significantly from the time the link between sanitation and disease was discovered in the mid-1800s. At the time these diseases were almost non-existent, in the mid-1900s, vaccines for them were introduced. Many vaccine advocates thereafter claimed that credit for the decline should be given to vaccines.” The measles vaccine was introduced in 1963 to America, but according to the records of the Centers for Disease Control, the number of deaths from measles had declined to almost zero – after coming from an all-time high of 10,000 back in the 1920s. Polio vaccines were introduced in 1957, but by the time it was released, deaths from polio have declined from 40 in 1951 to almost nil. The strange thing is that the numbers increased again in the 1960s when the vaccine was introduced to the population! It sounds to me that credit should go to plumbers and engineers who improved our sanitation standards! You have to ask yourself if vaccines really give value or is it a money making scheme feeding on your fears? The Dangers of Vaccines What does a vaccine do anyway? It injects a weakened version of the disease it’s supposed to protect you from, so your immune system will develop a resistance to it when it encounters the disease in the future. The injected strain is weak and apparently not dangerous. But the vaccines often have other ingredients. They may contain aborted human foetal tissue, dead animal tissues, toxic chemicals like formaldehyde (used for embalming), antibiotics, yeast and heavy metal compounds such as mercury and aluminium. These are not the kind of stuff I want my baby injected with! But the fact is that most parents don’t know because doctors won’t tell you this. If vaccines are safe, is there a need for a Vaccine Injury Compensation Program? The FDA admits that only 10% of adverse reactions to vaccines are reported by physicians. There are on average 20,000 negative vaccine reactions are reported every year but I would imagine there are plenty that don’t make the stats. It’s important to remember that children are not the only ones at risk. Recently a WA father says his life was ruined by a single vaccination. I don’t think I can risk my child suffering from side effects such as seizures, anaphylactic death, encephalitis, autism, meningitis, pneumonia and more just to get protection from chickenpox and flu! We’re trying to protect against non-life threatening diseases by giving a life threatening vaccine. It doesn’t make sense. I remember getting the chickenpox vaccination and still getting chickenpox along with everyone else in my class (I’m sure they were vaccinated too!) How Can You Protect Your Family? As a parent, what are my alternatives if I don’t trust vaccines? I think providing your children with an alkaline diet (80% alkaline 20% acid) will set the foundation for thriving health and a strong immune system and that most diseases do not require medical intervention. Letting the flu, measles or chicken pox run its course with plenty of rest and water will do more good than harm from vaccines. The decision is yours of course. This is my own view and another perspective to keep in mind that you rarely hear from others. You will never know if you’ve made the right decision. All you can do is do your own research, weigh the risks and make a call and I sincerely hope you make the right choice for you and your loved ones.
