Mostly new colors, a few mechanical upgrades and some popular options including Keyless Ride and Shift Assistant Pro. The 2015 models can be ordered from August 2014. The most notable updates are to the R1200GS, which will now utilize the heavier crankshaft of its R1200GS Adventure sibling and the recently launched R1200RT. This additional mass makes a noticeable riding difference, particularly at low-speed and off-road. In addition, the R1200GS can now be fitted with the Keyless Ride System as an option, which means locking and unlocking is carried out using transponder fob that can remain in the rider’s pocket. Three new colors are offered: Alpine white with drive and suspension components in black, Frozen dark blue metallic, and Black storm metallic. Of the previous pain finishes, Thunder grey metallic and Bluefire are no longer available. For 2015, the R1200RT will be supplied in a new two-tone pain finish: San Marino blue metallic/Granit grey metallic matt. Of the previous paint finishes, Quartz blue metallic is no longer available. BMW Motorrad’s Keyless Ride System is now an option (the “quickshifting” Shift Assistant Pro was available on 2014 model). The taller R1200GS Adventure will now offer a 2 inch (50mm) lower suspension option taking it to 33”. Another ¾” (20mm) can be taken off with a new lower seat option. Keyless Ride and Shift Assistant Pro are also new options for 2015. Other new special equipment for the K1600GT/GTL include daytime riding lights and the Hill Start Control that debuted on the R1200RT. It engages when the rider stops and squeezes the brake and will hold the bike on an incline until it is disengaged by the rider squeezing the brake again or riding away. The 2015 models are now also fitted with the instrument panel from the K1600GTL Exclusive, which features new gauges and chrome highlights.
