Can Stress Cause or Worsen Existing Fibroids?

Health,Advice
Fibroids occur due to many factors including genetics, stress, obesity, poor diet, and much more. This article will be about the role that stress and stress reduction provides in the emergence and continued growth of fibroids.

In case you weren’t aware, fibroids are benign, small tumors that are not cancerous and usually not fatal. They do, however cause a host of problems including lower back pain, bloated feeling in the abdomen, excessive bleeding and cramps. If you manage to get pregnant you may give birth prematurely.

While a diagnosis of fibroids is positively frightening, you must remain calm. I know it’s very hard not to panic but remember they’re not life threatening, so take a deep breath and calm down. It’s also an unfortunate fact that freaking out or becoming depressed will only make matters worse.

You see when you’re stressed out your body goes into overdrive. Your cortisol, blood pressure and heart rate levels go up, usually way up. All this causes a major hormonal imbalance and hormonal imbalance puts women at risk for developing fibroids. The more the imbalance, the better the chance of developing fibroids. If you already have them, the imbalance could cause a growth spurt in them.

Women who are under a great deal of stress often reported that their cramps and bleeding got worse when they were stressed out. So, it is essential to have good relaxation techniques to calm your frazzled nerves.

If you’re looking for natural and holistic treatments for shrinking your fibroids, there are many out there. The first thing you’ll need to do is reduce your stress every day, not every other day, every day. Now granted, stress reduction is great for everyone and may even help to prevent or shrink fibroids. That sounds like a win-win.

We know that stress is part of everyday life. There is so much competition to get ahead that we place too much stress on ourselves. We are the rat running in the rat race. Think about it. Is that what you want to be? A rat? To reduce stress how about stepping out of the race and try walking on the sidelines. You’ll still get there, it just won’t cause so much stress. That is a good thing!

So, what do we do to release stress? Try deep breathing and meditation. Get comfortable and breathe deeply. Visualize a peaceful scenery. Inhale and exhale in a deep, controlled manner. Imagine yourself at peace with a sense of happiness and well-being. Enjoy the calmness and serenity.

Not into meditation or just can’t seem to sit still? Then try listening to your favorite music and if the mood hits, get up and dance. If that’s not for you, then just do whatever makes you happy. The main thing is to file away your problems. Remember that your health is at stake. Why worry when it’s not going to help anyway?

By reducing your stress, you’ll reduce your chances of getting fibroids. If you already have them, then the reduction of stress in your life should cause your fibroids to start shrinking. The reduction of stress will also help lower your blood pressure and cortisol levels. That should make you feel much better and that’s a great thing.
