Ni-Cd batteries require a consistent amperage and voltage rate while charging to avoid catastrophic failure of the Ryobi RB18L50 battery. This can be a disadvantage compared to other battery types because it limits your range of possible chargers available. Fortunately, Ni-Cd batteries can accept up to 115 percent of the total amperage capacity during the charging process, widening your range of charging times. Most Ni-Cd chargers aren't simple plug-and-charge devices, however. Because Ni-Cd batteries can self-destruct if overcharged, you have to monitor higher charging rates. There are lower rates available, though, with some taking as long as overnight and containing a low enough rate as to significantly limit the chances of overcharging. Attach the cable from your BOSCH 2 607 335 276 battery pack to a Ni-Cd battery charger. Set the charger to C/10 to apply 10 percent of the amperage capacity of the battery each hour. Set the timer on the charger to 16 hours to avoid overcharging, and then wait the full 16-hour period for the battery to charge to capacity. Use discharge mode and a higher charge rate to speed up the battery charging. Set the charger to discharge mode after connecting it to the battery. The charger will discharge any remaining energy from the battery, reducing it to a single volt per battery cell. Remove the battery and allow it to cool to the touch. Reconnect the battery to the charger and then set the charge rate to C/3, 30 percent the amperage capacity per hour. Set the charger timer for five hours and wait for the charger to completely charge the battery. Decrease charging times by using a charger containing a voltage monitor. Connect the battery to a speed charger and choose the 1C setting, which uses 100 percent of the battery's amperage capacity. Wait for the charger to detect a drop in the battery voltage to between -10 and -20 per cell, at which point the charger will end the charging cycle. Unplug the batteries from the charger when the charging cycle ends, then allow them to cool before use. Remove hot drill batteries for Milwaukee M18B6 from the charger immediately and allow them to cool down before checking charge levels with the charger. Return to charging if they still lack a full charge.
