ASMARA, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) -- Eritrean President Isaias Afewerki said on Friday that Eritrea is keen to enhance all-aspect cooperation with China. In an exclusive interview here with Xinhua, Afewerki said that China and Eritrea enjoy a long standing relationship and the two countries have created a very solid basis and very conducive climate for both to exchange views frankly, not diplomatically. "I can describe the relationship between China and Eritrea as a genuine partnership, very exemplary partnership which includes politics, economy, trade, investment and even cooperation in international and regional issues," Afewerki said. When it comes to nation building, the president said that infrastructure, roads, harbors, energy, communication, even social services, health and education have to be there in order to create a good environment for trade and investment. "We are working hard to develop these infrastructures, and China, major partner for us now, and Chinese companies are getting more and more actively in these. We have natural resources, exploiting those natural resources for development and nation building is also very critical," Afewerki added. The president said he is happy with the cooperation with China so far but he thinks more needs to be done. "We believe we are in the right track, we need to do more, we may need to work harder. We may need to exchange better because times are changing and we need to do better. We are satisfied with what we have done so far and we need to do more," Afewerki said. "We will put our infrastructure in place to create environment conducive for investment and development, then we can talk about growth. Growth will include a number of other issues, regional and international, and I believe, we, in partnership with China, will continue to enter a new chapter of our bilateral relationships," the president said. "We live in a very dynamic world, we live in the 21st century. There are too many things to learn. Given the long experience we have, we can learn a lot from Chinese experiences, Chinese views about global situations," Afewerki added.
