Bucket elevator also known as grain leg is a process of pulling bulk material to another spot vertically. It consists of a bucket to carry the bulk material, a connecting belt to carry the buckets having the material and transmit the pull, channel to drive the belt, materials for loading the buckets, for equivalent belt tension and for enclosing and protecting the elevator. A variety of material in bulk from heavy to light and from fine to the big pump can be elevated by a bucket elevator. A centrifugal discharge elevator can be vertical or inclined. A vertical elevator completely depends on the action of centrifugal force to get the bulk material into the discharge tube and run at a relatively high speed. Whereas inclined elevators having bucket spaced apart or kept close together, may have discharge trough set partially under pulley head. Since they don’t get entirely dependent upon the centrifugal force to keep the material into the trough, the speed can be relatively lower. Most of the bucket elevators or centrifugal discharged elevators have spaced buckets with round bottoms. Load can be picked up from a boot, a pit, or a lump of material at the foot of the pulley by a bucket elevator. There is also a continuous bucket elevator. These buckets may have triangular cross section and can be set close to each other on the belt or have no clearance between them. And it is mainly used to carry very heavy material at very slow speed. Flat chains are used in bucket elevators with small steel buckets attached every few inches.Rubber belt with plastic buckets is used in construction of bucket elevators. The electric motor drives the top pulley and has a diameter of several feet. The technology that enables the building of the grain elevator is the bucket elevator. At the topmost area of the elevator, a diverted allows the grain to be sent to the chosen bin. A device with flat steps which looks similar to the bucket elevator is used as an elevator for humans. Car elevators can be used in garages, parking lots, and commercial parking or any place where parking space is limited. This system keeps the cars completely underground and allows independent car access without moving one car to access the another. Some hydraulic car elevators have massive use in inspection of vehicles, repairing mechanical parts, and other service works. These car elevators are mostly appropriate for vehicles, two wheeler or small sized cars. These have smooth operation which ensures quick lifting time.
