GABORONE, Aug. 30 (Xinhua) -- The Confederation of Southern Africa Football Association (COSAFA) announced on Tuesday that Botswana will host the U-20 tournament in December 2011. This is the second successive year for Botswana to host the tournament since 2010. Speaking at the launch of the tournament in Gaborone on Tuesday, Botswana National Sports Council (BNSC) chairperson Solly Reikeletseng said it is an honour for the country to be hosting a tournament of this magnitude for the second successive time. He said it is clear proof that COSAFA were never disappointed with the way Botswana hosted the competition last year. "It shows that we were good and this is really appreciated." The U-20 tournament is one of the biggest youth soccer spectacles in Southern Africa which has produced some of the finest talents Southern Africa has exported to the world. Among renowned names from the tournament recently is Zimbabwean Knowledge Musona who made waves at South Africa Premier League Glamour Club Kaizer Chiefs before being snatched up by German Bundesliga side 1899 Hoffenheim at the end of last season. Another player who was spotted in the COSAFA tournament is South African Thulani Serero who made a transfer of 24 million rand (4.8 million U.S. dollars) to Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam from Ajax Cape town. Meanwhile, Botswana Under-20 side has been drawn in Group A together with Comoros, Swaziland and Mozambique. In Group B, the Seychelles will lock horns with Malawi and Lesotho in the only group that consists of three countries. There is however concern over Malawi availability with travel bans imposed on all national teams following political unrest in the country. There is hope however for the organizing committee that the situation will be solved before the start of the tournament. In Group C, Zambia will battle it out with South Africa, Mauritius and Tanzania. Both Zambia and South Africa are seen as favourites to win the tournament. Tanzania are the new comers this year after COSAFA extended an invitation to them. In Group D, Angola, Madagascar, Namibia and Zimbabwe will battle it out. While Zimbabwe will always be seen as one of the giants in the region, Namibia were a surprise package last year. They defeated South Africa on their way to reaching the final for the first time.
