4 winners of Nobel Prize in Chemistry including Dr. Aaron Ciechanover talked about entrepreneurship and innovation at Development Strategy Study Senior Forum of Jiangsu Life Science Innovation Park and gave advices to Nanjing.
Last November, Nanjing University Chemical and Bio-pharmaceutical Science Research Institute headed by Dr. Aaron Ciechanover, 2004 winner of Nobel Prize in Chemistry, signed to settle in Jiangsu Life Science Innovation Park, located in Qixia District. The institute contains a “Nobel Prize Winner Studio” and several research and development platforms such as chemical biology, biological materials, pharmaceutical design, etc. Dr. Ciechanover said, Nanjing is a very good city. Jiangsu Life Science Innovation Park is next to Nanjing University. He set up the institute in the park for the purpose of building a cross-subject research platform in life science and transfer more research achievements.
“It is easy to transfer scientific achievements in my institute,” said Robert Huber, receiver of 1988 Nobel Prize in Chemistry and Professor of Biological Chemistry Institute of International Max Planck Research School, Germany. “I’m delighted to see so many universities develop near Jiangsu Life Science Innovation Park. I hope to bring my research institute to Nanjing soon.”
Professor Daniel Shechtman of Israel Institute of Technology and 2011 winner of Nobel Prize in Chemistry said, talents is key to innovation and entrepreneurship. Professor Walter Kohn of University of California, Santa Barbara and winner of 1998 Nobel Prize in Chemistry expressed that, he is very fond of Nanjing. His view toward entrepreneurship and innovation is “mutual support between fundamental research and technical research”.
