According to United Nations environmental program forty nine million metric tonnes electronic waste is generated annually across the globe. Out of this United States alone has a shocking contribution of three million metric tonnes. These high figures of electronic waste produced in the country can be very alarming and hazardous for the health of the people, plants and animals living over there. Every year thousands of computers, mobiles, laptops, tablets and many other electronic devices are discarded or exchanged for a new one. What has to be done with those electronics which are of no use any more? Let's find out what we should do as responsible citizens of any country or city.
Recycling of electronics and computers in Chicago!
According to Chicago electronics recycling program there are many companies in the city which offers systematic recycling of the electronics. Electronic recycling refers to a process in which most of the parts of the old electronic device is reused or recycled and minimizing the waste produced by the device. Similarly administration of the city is also conducting Chicago computer recycling program which includes not only reuse of the usable parts of the computer but also carrying the process of data destruction for minimum damage to the environment.
Benefits of recycling of electronics and computers!
• First and foremost benefit of recycling the electronics is that it is an environmental friendly process. Since almost ninety percent of the device has been saved so less than ten percent waste goes to the landfills and dumping grounds. Parts of the device which contains arsenic, lead, cadmium and mercury are separated during dismantling and are either recycled or disposed of in a safe way. They are not sent to the landfills to prevent poisoning of the soil.
• Second factor which is very important to be considered is health benefits of recycling. If electronic waste is left untreated or dumped in the soil then it may leak poisonous gases which can cause major life threat to flora, fauna and people living in the locality. This all can be prevented by proper recycling of the device.
• With recycling of the electronic devices we are not only saving our environment but we will also save lot of energy and resources. If we give our electronic goods for recycling then many parts from the older device can be used as it is in the new device. This means the company will not need to produce those parts from the beginning and save lot of energy.
• Buy reusing the old parts company will not only save resources but they will also be able to curb the prices of electronic goods.
