Why Drying Carpets is Serious Specially for Flooded Carpets

Family & Parenting,Health,Home Improvement
If you are like many individuals, then you do not like having wet carpet in your home. In fact, who out there likes to have wet carpet? The truth is that there is hardly anyone out there who likes to have wet carpet in his or her home. This is because when there is wet carpet, there is a horrible smell. This could be different if you could not smell the carpet

When there is wet carpet, if you let the wet carpet dry on its own, this could take weeks, depending on the damage that has been done to the carpet. The water damage on carpet is one of the main determinants.

Sun Dry

The best way to clean water damaged carpet yourself, however, is to remove the carpet by rolling it up and taking it outside to a flat or sloped surface and unrolling it. After unrolling the carpet, spray both sides with a garden hose, and then douse it with ammonia or a pine based cleaning solution and let it penetrate for several minutes. Next, spray the carpet down with a water hose again on both sides until all the suds vanish. The quickest way to dry the carpet, using this method, is to allow it to lay flat in the sun, flipping it over once in a while to ensure both sides are drying out equally. Once the rug or carpet is completely dry, it can then be returned indoors.

Aircon Helps

In the beginning, once you have discovered that you have wet carpet, you should make sure you turn on the air conditioner, if you have one, and turn it on at the coldest temperature possible.

We tell you to turn the air conditioner on and make it cold in your house when you have wet carpet so that mold will not start to form. Mold is known to form on wet carpet or anything else that is wet, especially in hot temperatures. In order to prevent that mold from growing on the wet carpet, you should follow the proper instructions. When it comes to wet carpet, if the pad under the wet carpet has also gotten wet then you will need to take both the wet carpet and the wet carpet pad up.

In normal circumstances, the wet carpet pad will be dried if you allow it to be exposed to good drying conditions. If the wet carpet pad becomes stained or discolored then it will not make a big difference because this is the pad that goes under your carpet. If you have found your wet carpet pad has a mildew odor that is coming out of the wet carpet pad, then you should make sure you have the mildew killed. If you are not able to kill the mildew odor from your wet carpet pad, then you will need to purchase a new pad.

Air blower/Fan

If you are looking for ways to get water out of the wet carpet pad, then you can start by blowing air between the pad and the carpet. You can blow air between the wet carpet and the wet bad simply by taking a corner of the carpet up and using a fan to blow air under the carper. There are other methods that can be applied like using dehumidifiers. Use fans or dehumidifiers to keep air circulating and reduce the chance of mould growing. Once the carpet is completely dry, sprinkle baking soda on the surface and vacuum again to reduce odour.

When it comes to the methods that can be applied to drying your wet carpet, that choice is up to you. In the end, if you find you would much more prefer to leave it in someone else's hands, then you should start by calling the carpet cleanerss who are equipped with the right tools and equipments to proceed treatment.
