Halloween is soon going to be here, and you should take the chance to have a little fun over the holiday. One idea that's fun is to take an aerial tour of the Grand Canyon, and you can catch one in Arizona or Nevada. You can take a helicopter tour or an airplane tour and customize your tour package with a variety of options. You're sure to find a tour filled with fun things to do that fits right into your budget. Best Grand Canyon Chopper Tours Grand Canyon air tours depart every day of the year except for Christmas Day, so on Halloween, the tours depart as usual. The Nevada flights lift off from the Vegas Strip, Henderson, and Boulder City in Nevada. However, you can also depart from Tusayan, Arizona, which is situated near the South Rim. One reason you may prefer to book a Vegas tour over a Tusayan tour is that the flights that depart from Vegas are allowed to land at the Grand Canyon's West Rim. The air-only tours are thrilling, but the landing tours let you see the canyon up close and personal as well as from the air. The West Rim landing tours land on the Canyon floor, on top of the rim, or a combination of both. If you go to the bottom of the Canyon, you can enjoy a champagne picnic or even a boat ride along the Colorado River, and if you go to the top of the rim, you can experience the Grand Canyon Skywalk. The Skywalk is an amazing structure made of huge glass panels that allows you to walk out past the edge of the rim and stand about 4000 feet above the bottom of the canyon. It seems like you're walking on air. Tickets to the Skywalk can be included in your West Rim flight package. Even though the tours that depart from Arizona are not allowed to land at the canyon, they are still worth considering since they offer such spectacular views. There are two choices in flights at the South Rim, and they differ in the amount of air time you get. One of the tours lasts about 30 minutes, and the other one lasts around 60 minutes. The longer tour is worth the extra cost because you will see the park from the South Rim to the North Rim and over to the eastern border of the park. The longer tour lets you see the scenic views and wilderness areas of the South Rim, North Rim, and eastern park boundary, in fact, it flies over about 75 percent of the entire park. The Deluxe Tour Upgrade You have your choice of flying on a basic or deluxe tour. While there is nothing wrong with a basic tour, it flies on the older helicopters. Even though they aren't considered the ultimate in sightseeing aircraft, they are still safe to ride in and you'll have great views. The best flights are on deluxe tours, and they are worth the extra cost. The tours use EcoStar 130 choppers. They have roomier cabins and you'll be a lot more comfortable during your tour. The seats are carefully arranged, so there is no bad seat on the helicopter with obstructed views, plus, the windscreen wraps around the aircraft for panoramic viewing. The deluxe Vegas tours depart conveniently from the Strip and you'll be picked up and dropped off in a limo. The basic tours lift off from airfields in the suburbs, and you'll need to take a shuttle bus ride to get to your chopper. Grand Canyon Airplane Tours You could tour by airplane instead, and if you choose a plane tour of the South Rim, your airplane will follow the same route as the tour helicopters. The drawback to an airplane tour is that the airplanes have to fly higher, so the views aren't quite as good as what you get in a helicopter. Plane tours are fun and scenic though, and they are the perfect option if you're touring with a group because an airplane can hold up to 19 people per flight. Also, the plane tours cost less, so that's a good choice when you need to control your vacation budget. Wrapping Up So consider your options. Do you want a basic tour or a more comfy deluxe version? Would you rather fly in a helicopter or an airplane? Will you tour the West Rim or the South Rim? You'll have plenty of options and choices to make. Start with choosing your departure city and then pick out the most upgrades you can afford. Think of the memories you'll make if you book a champagne tour of the West Rim. It's almost Halloween, so don't delay in booking your tour. Be sure to book your tour online too, because you'll get a great discount that way, plus you'll have a lot of variety in tour options to ensure you create a Halloween tour you'll never forget.
