Brides on a Budget: Inexpensive Wedding Flowers

Business

The budget conscious bride searching for wedding flowers in Jonesboro need look no further. Here are some inexpensive floral ideas for the big day.

Carnation

This low-cost flower is often overlooked when it comes to bridal arrangements, but it shouldn’t be. It is a sturdy flower that will hold up from morning to night in corsages and centerpieces. It can be dyed in any shade of the bride’s choosing to ensure the perfect look. Its scalloped edges give arrangements a unique, textured appearance. While it has been given a bad rap in the past, the carnation is making a comeback as it has a lot to offer.

Daisies

The bride has plenty of options with this flower, from the classic version to the larger Gerbera or the dainty daisy spray. Daisies can stand alone or add a whimsical element to a larger arrangement. The classic daisy is naturally white but can be dyed to suit the bride’s taste. The Gerbera daisy adds a powerful punch of color, and the daisy spray blends perfectly with a wildflower arrangement. As versatile as it is, the bride is sure to find a use for this cheerful, economical flower.

Sunflower

Rivaling the daisy for the cheeriest of the bunch, the sunflower is sure to put a smile on guests’ faces. The vivacious yellow blooms will add a splash of sunshine to any venue, and their robust quality will keep them looking fresh throughout the day.

Freesias

Whether due to their symbolism of innocence or their strong citrusy fragrance, freesias are one of the most popular wedding flower options. Their gorgeous, bell-like bulbs come in an array of vibrant hues, and with up to 8 bulbs per stem, they add a lovely fullness to bouquets. They’re also a hardy flower which can handle the transition from church to banquet hall.

Waxflower

The Chamelaucium, known as the waxflower, is a type of flowering shrub that makes a gorgeous filler. The blooms come in white, pink, lavender, and orange hues, so the bride is sure to find the right shade to accent her bouquets. They’re also quite sturdy which makes them a sound choice to last the duration of the festivities.

Alstroemeria

With a pronunciation similar to “I’ll still marry ya,” the alstroemeria seems like a natural fit for a wedding bouquet. Also known as the Peruvian lily, it comes in a variety of shades, including elegant white, soft apricot, rich crimson, and luscious pink. While they look quite delicate, they are actually very strong, making them an excellent option to transition from the church to the reception hall. There are species from Chile, which are winter-growing, and from Brazil, which are summer-growing, making this flower accessible and inexpensive year round.

Gladiolus

The gladiolus, or sword lily as it is sometimes known, makes for striking centerpieces. They come in every hue, from subtle pinks to brilliant blues, giving the bride limitless options for the reception color scheme. Some brides are now also using only a few gladiolus stems for a simple but breathtaking bouquet. No matter which colors are used or whether they stand alone or are part of a larger arrangement, these tall flowering stalks are sure to make a statement.

Silk Flowers

In lieu of fresh flowers, consider silk flowers that can be custom-designed. They are never out of season, won’t wilt or brown, and can be an inexpensive option to their fresh counterparts. They also make a beautiful keepsake of the momentous occasion.

Bouquets and centerpieces need not be expensive to be stunning and sophisticated. Whether going for understated and elegant or bold and dazzling, talk to your local floral designer about what your options are to choose the perfect wedding flowers in Jonesboro for your special day.
