The first thing that you should do is to make a list of what appliances you have and what their size is. Once the list is complete then you need to divide them into large, medium, and small. Try to put all the small appliances that go into the same room in the same box. • If there are any gaps in the boxes fill them with packing peanuts or crushed paper so the appliances do not slide around. • Make sure that you label each box as to where it goes. Stack them out of the way until it is time to put them in the movers truck or in the car to be moved to the new place. Medium appliances This group includes the microwave oven, vacuum cleaner stereo, barbeque grill, etc... If they come apart make sure that you put all the screws and other things in a plastic bag and label the bag as to which appliance it belongs to. Try to pack all the parts of each medium appliance together. • Unplug all the appliances at least twenty-four hours before you pack them for the professional movers to pack in the truck. • Wrap the appliances with plastic sheeting and cardboard so they will not get damaged or scratched Large appliances They should be packed and ready to load in the truck by the moving service before anything else is loaded. These include your washer and dryer, refrigerator, desktop computer, big screen television, and dishwasher. It takes time to pack them safely so do not rush into it. With the washer and dryer make sure all the water is drained and do not do any laundry two days before you move. Remove any cords, ducts, and hoses and wrap them in a plastic bag, labeling them that they go to the washer and dryer. You will also need to do the dishwasher the same way.
