If you're an avid hunter, having your own hunting cabin can be a lifelong dream. Having your own place to go whenever you have the urge to go hunting makes it easier to enjoy your hobby and gives you a comfortable place to relax after a long day perched in your hunting blind. But if you want the ideal hunting cabin, there are a few extra features you'll want to add on to those standard log cabin floor plans. Here are a couple of ideas you might want to consider. Mudroom A decent-sized mudroom is a must in any hunting cabin. When you get back from a long day of hiking through the woods, or when you've just finished skinning a deer, the last thing you want to do is to track all of that mud and mess through your nice hunting cabin. A mudroom allows you to take off your dirty shoes and strip off any messy clothing. You can also consider adding a few extra features to your mudroom, like a shower stall or a laundry chute. A shower would allow you to get totally clean before stepping into the main part of your hunting cabin, so you wouldn't have to worry about getting anything dirty. And a laundry chute would send your dirty clothes straight to the laundry room, so you don't have to come back and pick them up later. Meat Curing and Storage You will also want to add space for curing and storing the meat you get from your hunts. There are several options available, so you'll have to decide what you want. Perhaps you will want to dry and cure the meat yourself; in that case, you may want a separate shed where this can be done. If you just want to store your meat until you can take it somewhere else to be cured, you'll just need to ensure you have space for a large freezer in your cabin. Adding these features to standard log cabins floor plans will turn a basic cabin into an ideal hunting cabin.
