When training to fight, you must use protective gear to avoid injuring yourself as well as equipment for improving your ability in martial arts. Secondly, you should think about investing in protective wear, such as sparring equipment. As the name clearly suggests, protective wear guards you from accidents or impacts. The truth is that even professional players wear protective gear. Why? Well, because accidents happen no matter how careful you are. This does not mean that martial arts are dangerous, but rather that you should be cautious. For karate, for instance, you should buy mitts, forearm padding and, maybe, a mouth guard. To further protect yourself during training sessions, it is a good idea to purchase shin guards. They reduce the risk of injury and, contrary to popular opinion, they do not defeat the goal of training. You do not prove anything if you are in pain as you train. Make sure to wear protective gear no matter if you practice karate or taekwondo. Last but not least, you should consider investing in a notepad and pencil. These items are not sporting equipment per se, but they will come in handy. In order to improve at martial arts, you have to write down important lessons. Not taking notes is without any doubt one of the biggest mistakes that you can make. Forgetting is easy, but by writing things down you are not likely to ever forget them.
