The inability to sleep, otherwise known as insomnia, can be a tiresome dilemma to have. Try these insomnia solutions in Birmingham today to see if one of them can help you get a better night’s sleep.

Lifestyle Changes

Sometimes stress can keep you up at night, so making changes in your job, family life, or recreation habits can help you fall asleep easier at night. Sometimes a small dose of melatonin about 30 minutes prior to going to bed can make a world of difference in your ability to sleep. Discuss this with your doctor to see how much melatonin would be an appropriate amount for you.

Lavender Essential Oil

Lavender essential oil has been shown to help relax and calm people, and encourage sleep. You can put a couple of drops of lavender oil in a warm bath prior to bedtime, or add a few drops to an essential oil diffuser in your bedroom. Another option is to put a few drops in a spray bottle filled with water and mist your pillow and sheets. For a child, you can put a few drops into a washcloth, then roll the washcloth up for the child to hold. The child can hold the rolled-up washcloth to his nose as he begins to relax in bed and the scent of lavender will help him drift to sleep.
