Getting laser hair removal in NYC can be a really great decision. However, it can end badly if you are not careful by taking the proper steps beforehand to prepare for your appointment. With that in mind, here are 5 things to keep in mind ahead of your appointment. Avoid Tanning If you are in the habit of going tanning or using sunless tanners, then you should plan to stop at least one month prior to your laser hair treatment appointment. Your skin should be as light as possible when you go in for laser hair removal. This is one of the reasons many people choose to undergo treatment in the winter. Use Sunscreen Use sunscreen with at least SPF 15 in the month prior to your laser hair removal appointment. Again, your skin should be as light as possible and the sun’s damaging rays can affect your skin even on overcast or wintry days. Stop Plucking and Waxing For at least 2 to 4 weeks prior to your appointment, stop plucking and waxing hair in the area to be treated. Shaving is fine and is in fact recommended, but plucking or waxing in the days and weeks before your appointment will make the treatment less effective. Shave the Treatment Area Prior to your appointment, you will be given instructions during your consultation. Your provider will likely advise you to shave before your appointment. The treatment is actually more uncomfortable if you have longer hair to be removed. Clean Your Skin Thoroughly Finally, cleanse the area thoroughly and make sure it is free of cosmetics, lotions, or other substances. Even deodorant applied the day of your appointment should be removed or not worn at all. Laser hair removal in NYC can be a great thing for a lot of people. If you feel like it might be right for you, keep these 5 tips in mind before your appointment to achieve the best results.
