No one plans to be stuck on the side of the road, but sometimes it happens. When it does, it's important that you know what to do if you need an Atlanta tow truck. If there is no call box in sight, then raise the car's hood and tie something white to the radio antenna or hang it out a window. This will signal that you need help. Stay in the car with the doors locked. Interstate highways and major roads are regularly patrolled so watch for police or call 511 select option "1" to request HERO motorist assistance. If someone other than a uniformed officer or HERO, who wear an assigned uniform which readily identifies them as a Georgia DOT Incident Management Technician, stops to help, roll the window down slightly and ask that they call for help. While You Wait Collect your belongings while you're waiting for the tow truck to come. Make sure you have your wallet and, if you have one, your cell phone. Since you don't know how long your car may be in the shop, gather any belongings or work items you might need. Remember to stay on guard and stay safe.
