The following interview was held between Chandler Rickey (interviewer) and Chandra Rickey (entrepreneur). Chandra Rickey has started 3 different tourism related businesses in the last 10 years. Beavers Bend Creative Escapes is a cabin management company, Lago Vista Bed and Breakfast is also the home I grew up in and Girls Gone Wine is a winery, tasting room and gift shop that she owns with her two best friends. All three businesses were started within 2 years of each other and all are tourism related and located near Broken Bow Lake and Beavers Bend State Park. Chandra ran Beavers Bend Creative Escapes for seven years before selling the business three years ago. She continues to run Lago Vista and Girls Gone Wine. She has always worked in tourism related businesses and feels it is her calling to take care of people and insure that they have a wonderful visit. She is the definition of an entrepreneur. She has taken numerous risks and worked very hard to have successful businesses. During the first few years of each business she did everything herself, she still does at Lago Vista. Girls Gone Wine now employees 18 people but in the beginning it was just the three of them. This interview really opened my eyes to the world of entrepreneurship, and just how easy it can be to start your own business. Well I guess its not really easy, but if you are doing something that you love like Chandra is doing than anything is easy. People like this are needed in the world, when businesses are started because you love doing it then the business is sure to last. I also learned that you do not have to come up with a completely new idea for a business to work “Don’t try to be original, just try to be good.” (Rand) as long as you do a good job at what you are doing then you will be successful. I think that I would be really interested in starting a company in the tourism industry, it seems like a great time and an interesting industry to get into. Chandra was a very interesting person to interview, I had a great time listening to what she had to say and feel like a learn a lot about how to be an entrepreneur. All in all this was a great experience and I would love to do it again. Paul Rand, 50 Inspirational Entrepreneurial Quotes, Retrieved from https://www.entrepreneur.com/article/240047
