Tips For Organising a Company Ski Trip

Travel & Tourism
So, You’re Planning Your Company Ski Trip You’ve taken on quite some challenge — Amy from accounts wants to be on the first lift and have a piste-side picnic to maximise her time on the slopes, whilst Mike from marketing cares more about the après scene and boozy lunches than getting any serious runs in. Everyone else falls somewhere between those extremes, but with very different expectations when it comes to accommodation, activities and all things food and drink related. Don’t panic: we have some tips to bear in mind to help make this easier. Planning Makes Perfect Start at the beginning and take the planning seriously, it will help so much in the long run! • Take the names of people ready to commit to the trip by putting down an initial deposit. • Make a calendar to work out what dates suit the most people, and give yourself some leeway to find the cheapest window. • It’s going to be impossible to please everyone on every issue, so don’t stress about trying. • Keep the decision-making panel as small as possible for efficiency and the sake of your grey hair count. • Have a folder, either physical or online, with absolutely everything in it. You’ll kick yourself if you forget what website you found the really good deal on, or misplace a password for online booking. What Must the Budget Cover? Transport, transfers, accommodation, lift passes, equipment rental, insurance, activities, meals, drinks – the list could be endless. Make sure you know what you have to play with before letting the fun of planning the extras leave you with no budget left and you’re all bunking in the local ‘student digs’ style hostel… Our Top Picks Verbier, Courcheval and Zermatt are all good options to consider. They’re easily accessible from Geneva, with transfers of under 2 hours. This is really important to consider when on a few day ski trip: you don’t want to be stuck on a coach for hours on end! They all offer great skiing, and they’re well geared up for corporate events. These three resorts offer good après, a range of accommodation choices to suit varied budgets, conference facilities and on and off snow activities. Verbier has top quality restaurants and accommodation and is frequented by celebrities and royalty. Courcheval will certainly please any foodies in your group, as it’s home to 7 Michelin-starred restaurants. Zermatt has excellent, more refined, après to offer, along with some delightful chalets in the car-free village. How to Get There This is the easy bit. Choose from seemingly endless flights into Geneva weekly, with options to suit every office budget and location within the UK. From Geneva, ski transfers are easy to organise too: Shuttle Direct have a really user-friendly platform with group booking options and will even transport kit for free as long as you inform them at the time of booking – perfect for cutting costs and catering to those colleagues who prefer to bring their own gear. Geneva ski transfers will be the least of your worries, good luck with the rest of your planning!

Lukas Johannes is a driver for Shuttle Direct, the number one provider of shared and private airport transfers all over Europe and northern Africa. If you’re looking for affordable ski transfers, Geneva airport is the hub for a host of surrounding resorts. Lukas and his colleagues can make sure that you and your ski equipment get to and from the airport swiftly and safely.
