This fast-paced world that we live in requires us to save resources wherever possible. This is especially true for those who own and operate their own companies. Running an organization can be a very expensive venture, and outdated ways of doing business can have significant financial implications on an organization. Finding areas where robotics process automation (RPA) can be applied to your business can result in both short-term and long-term gains, saving you both money and resources. Go Paperless and Address Hardware Issues Digitize paper documents: There are some companies that continue to use an excess of paper, which is a large obstacle when it comes to being efficient. When customer files or claims only exist in paper format, they are not easily accessible, especially when it comes to sharing these documents with different locations. There is no doubt that converting all paper-based documents to digital is an intimidating feat, but doing so will give your company the opportunity to drive operational efficiency and improve the customer experience. Consolidate hardware assets: Does your company deal with a mess of various hardware devices? If you have various computer brands and no standard printers or scanners that you use, you are doing yourself and your company a great disservice. It is more complex and expensive to manage all of these assets. Choosing a consolidated hardware landscape lets you easily share solutions and best-practices, while also becoming more efficient in hardware procurement. Consolidate and Address your Infrastructure Consolidate your IT application landscape: If you choose not to invest in the reduction of IT complexity, or if your company has a history of acquisitions, you may have a fragmented application landscape in Operations. You can reduce IT maintenance costs and gain access to customer data faster just by ensuring that your core system landscape is lean and integrated. Develop lean but efficient infrastructure: Do you find that you underspend on Operations infrastructure, allowing for no IT data backups or failovers? Or are you more likely to overspend by valuing top Tier data centres and expensive server landscapes? Simply discovering what the ideal balance is between these two opposing ideas will help with infrastructure overpayment, driving company savings. Increase Efficiency and Automate Introduce Robotic Process Automation: RPA uses software robots, or virtual workers, to perform repetitive tasks involving IT systems, which humans are often responsible for. Better yet, RPA does not require any changes or integration with your existing systems. These software robots work exactly like humans, but they are also able to increase efficiency by 85%. A robotic process automation consulting practice can deploy RPA solutions in as little as 8-10 weeks and can include providers like BluePrism, UIPath, and Automation Anywhere. Introduce Desktop Automation: This often drives lower benefits than RPA because desktop automation is slightly older technology. In contrast to RPA, desktop automation is executed on an employee’s computer and is frequently used in the Contact Centres. OpenSpan is just one company offering these tools. There are many other types of automation available, so be sure to do your research. Most businesses can benefit from introducing RPA into their organizations, regardless of what industry they may be a part of. There are many ways that you can save resources within your organization, including the introduction to robotic process automation. These insights have been shared by the professionals at The Burnie Group, a boutique consulting firm based out of Toronto. It is our hope that you’ve learned about some new ways to save, as well as how RPA can have a positive impact on your business’ ability to save on money and resources.
