Get the Most from Your Caravan Holiday Park Break

Travel & Tourism,Camping
If you're heading away to a caravan holiday park, you should plan ahead properly to ensure things run smoothly. Here are a few tips to help you get the most out of your break, so you can focus on the most important thing – enjoying yourself!

Consider What You'll Need to Bring

Before you even start packing, it's worth looking into what you'll have to supply yourself and what's already waiting for you in your caravan. Holiday park amenities can vary from place to place – you might find that essentials like toilet rolls and towels are provided, or you could be in for an unpleasant surprise if you simply assume they will be. Check the resort's website or any information they've sent you, or get in touch with them if you're not sure – it's better than wasting car space on something you don't need to bring, or having to fritter away your holiday budget buying things you hadn't considered.

Pack Essential Food and Snacks

It's always worth bringing along some food basics to keep you going until the inevitable shopping trip. You don't need to pack everything in the kitchen, but it's not a nice start to a holiday when you finally arrive at the resort after a long journey, wanting to unwind for half an hour with a cup of tea, and then remember there is no tea. Why not save yourself the hassle and take along the essentials? Even if there's an on-site shop, it might not be open when you arrive, it may not have exactly what you want, or you may just not feel like getting out of your chair for a while! This is especially important if you or members of your family have food allergies or special dietary requirements (or are just fussy eaters!) - remember there's no guarantee that things you take for granted at home will be available, so take the time to prepare.

Get your Bearings

Maybe it seems obvious, but once you've settled in it's worth taking an hour or so to thoroughly explore the caravan holiday park you're staying in, as well as the immediate local area, and getting a proper idea of where things are and what's available. You don't want to reach the last day of your holiday only to find out there's a nice little pub within walking distance that you never visited, or that the kids missed out on an adventure playground on the resort. Or maybe there's a swimming pool, or practical facilities like an on-site launderette... you won't know unless you look!

Keep the Kids Amused

There's usually plenty for children to do at a caravan holiday park, but will they be able to keep themselves busy on the way there? What about those rainy days when you decide it's best to spend an afternoon indoors? Make sure you bring along something to keep their attention, whether books, toys or a portable games console. Of course, kids rarely need encouragement to try and fit everything in their room into their rucksack, so it's worth having a look at what they plan to take along and perhaps making your own suggestions. Take these tips into account and you'll be sure to have a relaxing time on your caravan holiday park visit.
