Gun laws are rules and regulations that are set aside to regulate the manufacture, sale, possession, change and use of both firearms and ammunition. All countries have their own restrictive policies. Gun laws vary from one country to the other. Countries where gun laws are strictly followed allow the civilians right to keep and bear the firearms and these countries have more- liberal gun laws than the neighboring jurisdictions. Countries where gun law is enforced, they usually regulate the accessibility of certain categories of firearms which lead to certain group of people being allowed to use those categories. There are various types of licenses granted. Sport shooting, hunting, self-defense and concealed carry are examples of licenses that are granted. Gun laws are enforced with an aim of reducing the usage of small firearms like in criminal activities. The gun laws are said to be permissive if a country provides the license on shall issue basis where the ordinary citizen meets the legal requirements needed. On another side, gun laws are restrictive if they issued on may issue basis. Gun laws are said to be strict if an ordinary citizen is unable to get a firearm even through legal means. The law that restrict small firearms may also restrict the use of other weapons like explosives, crossbows, the swords, pepper spray and air guns as well as firearm accessories. Restriction on amount of firearms to be possessed may also be enforced. Those applying for firearms license may be required to prove their competence this is by completing and passing the gun safety course and show secure place to store weapons. Firearms license is usually denied to people who are mentally challenged, people with history of domestic violence, attempted suicide, alcoholism and depression. Minors that is people below 18 years are also restricted from the legal access of firearms.
