Things That You Should Know On Everest Base Camp Trek

Everest base camp trek is a famous trekking trail in Nepal and it is an amazing Himalayan journey in the world. There are lots of people dreaming about doing a trek to the world's highest mountain base camp.

Trek to the Everest base camp trek goes through the Sagarmatha national park which is a natural world UNESCO heritage site. Trekking to this route is a challenging journey itself but you will enjoy it a lot. There are somethings that you should follow or be careful of during the trek to the Everest base camp.

You need to minimize the weight of your bag because the trek starts with a flight and there is a weight limit for the flight. You only can take 15kg with one ticket including your hand carry so do not try to pack unnecessary things. You can buy daily uses things in Namche Bazaar on the trek.

The animals in the national park are protected and you will see them around you while walking on the trek. Don't try to scare them. Some animals are considered holy and people respect them. Don't talk about killing them even as a joke.

You can meet many trekkers during the high trekking season. But those people who meet on the way, they might not be with you all the time. You will be walking at a high elevation so you might have a problem with altitude at any time. If you get sick or fell over somewhere while you will be walking, it can be dangerous. So, always trek with friends or hire a guide.

Everest region is the Buddhist land and people are following Buddhism. Your need to respect their religion, culture, and customs. You will see some Mani walls, Mani wheels, prayer flags, stupas, monasteries, rocks with mantras, and much more. You should walk keeping those things on your right.

You will encounter local porters, yak, Jopke, and Mules on the way with big loads. If you meet them in a narrow space, you should stand on the safe side. They might not care about you and accidentally can push to the cliffs.

While you enter the monastery, try not to wear shorts and not allowed to take pictures inside. You should ask people before taking their pictures.

You will be walking at high elevation and there will be a problem of altitude sickness. Altitude can kill so you need to be careful with this. You need to walk slow, drink plenty of water, keep you warm, sleep well, eat well to avoid the problem. You need to have a good insurance policy for the trek which covers an emergency evacuation service above 6000 of elevation.

Actually, the Everest base camp trek is a 12 days trip from Kathmandu to Kathmandu. But, you can make it in 9 days too. Helicopter return Everest base camp trek can finish in 9 days. You will trek to the base camp taking 8 days and fly to Kathmandu on the 9th day on a helicopter.

If you don't have enough time for a trek or can't trek on the high Himalayan lands, you have another option to visit the base camp. You can directly reach the base camp from Kathmandu within a couple of hours. Everest base camp helicopter tour is the fastest way, that takes you to the Everest base camp in a short time.
