You will trek a week after Phakding to reach the base camp including two rest days for altitude practice. If you are an adventurous person, trekking to the Everest base camp should be fine and not difficult. There are certain things that you should about this trek. You will fly direct from Kathmandu (1,350 m) to Lukla (2,840 m) so an altitude ascent can make you difficult if you are not climatized. You need to have at least one extra day in Kathmandu before flying to Lukla to minimize the problem facing. Buy a good travel insurance policy that covers any emergency evacuation above 6,000 meters. It is a cold region so, you need to have warm and quality trekking equipment for the trek. You better to know what kind of hiking equipment should bring. There might snow or rain sometimes, you better have a rain cover and enough spare clothes if you get wet. And also check weather and temperatures before the time of the visit. It is a crowded trekking trail with hundreds of trekkers during the high trekking season. You should not have enough space to sleep so, always book at least one day earlier the accommodation where you’re the next stop will be. You will see lots of local porters with heavy loads, yak, and mules along the way, you need to careful with them. If you meet them in a narrow space, always stay on the safe side because if the loads push mistakenly, you won’t have an accident. Drinking normal tap water will harm your stomach. Try to buy bottled water or use purification medication in normal water. When you will be around 5,000 meters of places, the water should have lots of specks of dust. Buying bottled water is highly recommended in those places. An important matter is getting a flight ticket to Lukla. Many travelers book their flight tickets a few months earlier in advance to get as much as the earliest flight. Usually, early morning flights will be easier to fly with less wind and clear visibility. The plane will cancel often due to the bad weather and it can be week-long bad weather sometimes. You should be ready to fly with a helicopter paying an extra cost in that case or be ready to change the destination. There is a weight limit on the flight that you only can take 15 kg with one ticket including your hand luggage. You better pack only needed equipment to minimize weight limitation. You can minimize the load by not pack some daily usage things that you can buy in some places during the trek. You will spend around 3000 NPR per day in the trek if you don’t do party up in the mountain and also drinking alcohol is not good at high elevation. So, take enough cash (NPR) with you. The exchange rate in the mountain is not good. There are some ATMs but they might not work all the time.
