The fact that Tungsten carbide rings are brittle contributes to their cheapness, this is because the ring cannot be long lasting because it can break easily. In case the ring drops to the ground, or excess pressure/force is applied on it, it can easily chip or crack making it not that reliable as a long lasting ring. Also the fact that Tungsten rings are not made from pure Tungsten metal makes them cheap since small percentage is used to make the ring making its cost of production less which translates to its cheap price in the market.
