1. Can Decals Damage Defroster Lines? And, Removing License Plate Stickers
June 15, 2015

LAST UPDATED ON: September 11, 2018 Will decals damage the defrost lines on my car's rear window? Someone told me that a sticker decal will cause damage to heater elements on my rear window. Is this true? While we assume no legal responsibility for our opinion on this matter, I will say, unequivocally, that this is untrue. The heating elements on your car likely will not get over 100 degrees Fahrenheit, and at this temperature, it is likely less heat than your rear window will see even on a hot summer day. I think that if you were to take a reading on the glass temperature (no... (read more)

2. Vinyl Stickers - Removal, Sticking to Velvet, and Against Windshield Wipers
March 24, 2015

Removing Vinyl Stickers Without Damaging Your Car Paint First, realize that standard decal adhesive is a very tough adhesive, meant to withstand temperatures down to 40 below zero Fahrenheit and up to close to 200 degrees Fahrenheit. These acrylic adhesives are very strong so that they won't let a sticker fall off your car window or in your case, the painted trunk of your car. Over time, too, acrylic adhesives harden to the point that they don't want to release your sticker or decal, and as many dealer stickers are also made of mylar, or polyester, they also tear quite easily as well... 3. Applying Car Decals on Tinted Windows and Removing Stickers off Laptops/Buckets
January 19, 2015

LAST UPDATED ON: July 13, 2018 When to Apply Car Decals on Tinted Windows? Before or After Tinting? It depends on which side you put the sticker on. Because window tinting is done on the inside of the glass, it would be a poor choice to put a sticker on the inside of the glass before the tinting is done. The person or company applying the window tinting will let you know how many days the tinting should be on the window before applying the sticker to the window. Of course, since there is no tint applied to the exterior of your car window, if you have a back adhesive sticker, ... (read more)

4. Removing Tough Decals Off a Car; Getting Non-sticky Stickers to Stick
December 18, 2014

LAST UPDATED ON: June 5, 2018 How to Take Off Car Decals with very tough Adhesive This is one of the most common complaints we receive when it comes to adhesive stickers, and one I've written about in the past, but it deserves another visit because it happens frequently and can be an annoyance. The good news is that it is not difficult to fix, and your paint will be in good shape when you're done. Even temporary adhesive stickers that have been on a vehicle or window over time will leave a perimeter glue residue on paint or glass, and because the glue also attracts dirt when i... (read more)

5. Car Decals - Against Window Defroster, Weatherproof, On Tinted Windows, Adhesive Strength
September 29, 2014

LAST UPDATED ON: April 18, 2018 Can the Rear Car Defroster Affect the Window Stickers It shouldn't. Most rear car window decals on cars or trucks have an acrylic adhesive that should withstand temperature up to 180ºF (82ºC). Your rear window defroster, if functioning normally, is likely never to get near that temperature. Are Stickers from Vinyl Material Weatherproof? Vinyl stickers are 100% weatherproof, and if the ink is of good quality, then there really shouldn't be any problem with water at any temperature, or snow either for that matter. Sun is probably the hardest ... (read more)

6. How to Put Hood Decals onYour Cars
September 18, 2014

LAST UPDATED ON: March 20, 2018 You should ask yourself, "Did you purchase the right decal material, and if not, why not?" It is very important when dealing with large decals covering an area with multiple curvatures such as almost every part of an automobile that you use a decal material that is meant to be installed over this type of substrate. If you purchased a decal made of a vinyl decal material that was intended to be installed on a flat surface such as a window or a flat sign face, then you need to fire whomever you purchased it from, unless of course you didn't tell him wh... 7. Wipers on Car Decals, Stickers for Boats, & Washing Autos After Decal Installation
August 14, 2014

LAST UPDATED ON: February 22, 2018 Can Windshield Wipers Damage the Car Window Decals It isn't probably going to do much good for it, but it depends on how much road grime and dirt is under your wipers. Over time, the wipers act like sandpaper in pushing grit over the decal repeatedly. If your area gets a lot of rain, say an area like Seattle, Washington, it is likely that the water and spray off the road is relatively clean, so it's not likely that, other than the very light abrasiveness of your windshield wiper, that the decal will be damaged too much in the short- term. L... (read more)
