1. A Brief Introduction to Buddhism
February 20, 2017

Buddhism is the compilation of doctrines and practices based on the enlightenment of Sakyamuni Buddha, who lived and taught in northeastern India about 2500 years ago. The Sanskrit name Sakyamuni stands for “hermit of the Sakya tribe” while the name ‘Buddha’ means ‘The Awakened One’. Known as Prince Siddartha before he became enlightened, Buddhism’s founder was a wealthy prince, the son of an Indian king, who was protected from the outside world most of his life. When he was 29 years old, Siddhartha managed to escape the palace and wandered beyond the palace walls in search of a contemplative ... (read more)

CYPRUS: APPLICATION OF THE DOCTRINE OF FORUM NON CONVENIENS AFTER THE CASE OWUSU -vs- JACKSON Introduction: The Cyprus legal system followed English law until 1960. Since then, it has been closely modeled on its English counterpart. One of English legal doctrines adopted by Cypriot Courts is the doctrine of “forum non conveniens”. After the accession of Cyprus to the EU the application of the above English doctrine has been drastically restricted or almost put to an end. Doctrine of “Forum Non Conveniens” The concept of the doctrine of “forum non conveniens”, was defined by Lord Goff in ... (read more)

3. The Philosophy of Spirit,
December 19, 2014

spiritualism philosophical orientation based on the recognition of the substantial reality of the spirit. The term was introduced in the 19th century. by V. Cousin, although the spiritualist tradition can be traced back to St. Augustine. Closely related to the privilege granted to the introspective knowledge and consciousness as the site of epistemological principles and moral values, this tradition is also connected to the defense of Christian doctrines and, especially in the French thought of the century (by M. de Biran to C. Renouvier M. Blondel), was offset, in addition to materialism and ... (read more)

You can use it for online shopping and playing online games. October 21, 2013

October 21, 2013 -- Singapore -- Author Alfred Chong offers an important exhortation for the global Christian community in his book, ‘Raising the Alarm over False Conversion.’ Millions of Christians are indefinitely lulled to slumber in their unconverted state. They have been misled and are unknowingly living under the deception of false conversion. Chong believes they must be awakened so that they can seek God’s mercy and true salvation. ‘Raising the Alarm over False Conversion’ defines false conversion as relying on false doctrines, false assurances of salvation, good deeds, and religio... October 21, 2013

I thought I would re-post this article as I am still reading a lot of utter nonsense about Christmas! It amazes me on how much can come out of the Miracle of Christmas. How so many people and faiths show their true colors, including the world view/religion of Atheism and Paganism. The confusion is so deeply rooted that I find that even Christians don’t really know what to make of the Holiday. Just recently I was in a room with several atheists (I would presume atheists) that felt it was ok to openly criticize how” stupid” Christians are to celebrate December 25th as that was the birthday ... The definition of theophany is a visible manifestation of God found in the Old Testament. God had appeared as an angel, Genesis 16: 7-14 (NASB): 7 Now the angel of the LORD found her by a spring of water in the wilderness, by the spring on the way to Shur. 8 He said, “Hagar, Sarai’s maid, where have you come from and where are you going?” And she said, “I am fleeing from the presence of my mistress Sarai.” 9 Then the angel of the LORD said to her, “Return to your mistress, and submit yourself to her authority.” 10 Moreover, the angel of the LORD said to her, “I will greatly multiply your ... 9. Don't Stop Believing
September 11, 2013

Beliefs are the core of our very being, who we deem ourselves to be, what we think we can and can’t do. They are convictions and opinions about ourselves and our the world in which we live and are the filters we use to determine the quality of our existence here on this planet. We usually think of beliefs in terms of creeds and doctrines, and that’s what beliefs are. Basically, a belief is any guiding principle, faith, or passion that can provide meaning and direction in life. Beliefs tell our brains what to do. When we consistently believe something is true, it becomes our reality and we... (read more)

11. Terminology Tuesday: Revelation
July 23, 2013

*Refers both to the process by which God discloses the divine nature and the mystery of the divine will and purpose to human beings, and to the corpus of truth disclosed. Some theologians maintain that revelation consists of both God’s activity in salvation history through word and deed, culminating in Jesus (who mediates and fulfills God’s self-revelation) and the ongoing activity of God to move people to yield to, accept and personally appropriate that reality. General revelation maintains that God’s existence and particular attributes can be ascertained through an innate sense of God’s real... (read more)

15. Terminology Tuesday: Postmodernism
May 07, 2013

Postmodernism can be a very frustrating thing to deal with if someone is seeking the truth. A very common stance for the postmodernist is to say “if you think it is true, it is true for you and not necessarily true for me”. To the person of this belief there can be no wrong, and this is a dangerous position to take. Previous taboo beliefs and practices are given the same authority as traditional values and norms, often to the point of relegation to the recent. Now to the definition; *The view used to designate a variety of intellectual and cultural developments in late-twentieth-century W... (read more)

16. Public Opinion Morality - The Shifting Sands of a Sinking Nation
March 29, 2013

Florida it seems is not the only state where the ground suddenly shifts sucking in everything above. America has become a land of sink-holes from coast to coast. Frameworks, foundations and long accepted means of constructing and governing a nation have been hit with liberalism’s big guns of immorality, perversion, unbridled prurient pursuits and general last day’s pabulum. 17. What Is "Justification" and "The Gospel of Jesus Christ"?
March 22, 2013

Since we are coming to the most important season in the Christian faith, that being the death and resurrection of our Savior Jesus Christ, It seems very appropriate for the content and timing of this article. Going over the collection of writings on Beacon Apologetics I can only say to you that this is the most important message that I could ever write about; The truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The word “Gospel” is as defined by “The story of Christ’s life and teachings, especially as contained in the first four books of the New Testament, namely Matthew, Mark, Luke,... (read more)

18. What is the Problem with Vicarious Atonement?
March 18, 2013

I believe that an individual should think independently and without undue influence. It’s necessary to question the doctrines of your religious and political affliations to define what is true for you. The primary difference I see between the ideologies of Spiritualism and Christianity is the one that deals with the vicarious atonement. The Christian religion has as their central theme the idea that Jesus died on the cross, to redeem God’s disobedient and unrepentant people from their sinful ways. Christians are taught that by accepting Jesus Christ as their personal savior, God forgives t... (read more)

19. Why We Should Not Rejoice in the New Pope!
March 14, 2013

Perhaps before we rejoice on the “election” of a new pope we should take in consideration what the Apostle Paul wrote in Galatians 1: 6-17 6 I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— 7 which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse! 9 As we have already said, so now I say... March 05, 2013

With a lot of attention being focused on the Roman Catholic Church and of course the “election” of a new pope, you will hear the word “magisterium” being thrown around, so here is the definition of the word; *The prerogative of the church to proclaim and teach the good news about Jesus. In many church bodies the term refers more specifically to the group of persons, generally vocational theologians and church officials, who together possess the authority to determine the content of and to pass on to others the official doctrine, teachings and practices of the church. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I came to turn a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law;36 and a man’s enemies will be the members of his household. 23. The Baha'I Faith and the Problems With It: Problem # 2
March 02, 2013

In the first installment of my article of the Baha’I faith I wrote about problem # 1 of many issues with this religion. Problem # 1 as a refresher was that; The Baha’i faith does not believe that Heaven or Hell are actual “places” that people go to after death. This of course is in contradiction to the Christian Bible. So today I am going to write about the second problem, and that is, the Baha’I belief in salvation. Problem # 2 The Baha’I’s position of salvation is that the followers do not believe that salvation is a free gift from God. It is a synergistic role between God and man, wit... (read more)

25. Why Do Roman Catholics Pray To Mary and the Saints?
February 17, 2013

A few days ago I found a prayer in the form of a tract that was given to someone near to me that is a Roman Catholic. It is called a Novena Prayer. By definition ***A novena (from Latin: Novem, meaning Nine) is an institutional act of religious pious devotion in the Roman Catholic Church, often consisting of private or public prayers repeated for nine successive days in belief of obtaining special intercessory graces. The prayers are often derived from devotional prayer books, or consist of the recitation of the rosary (a “rosary novena”), or of short prayers through the day. Novena praye... (read more)
