3. Is It a Must to Use Polyester Fabric in Dye Sublimation Printing of T-Shirts?
September 27, 2014

LAST UPDATED ON: March 21, 2018 There has been a lot of experimentation with various natural fibers and mixed natural fibers (like the 50/50 cotton tee), and for the most part, it is best, when using true dye sublimation printing on fabric, to use polyester fabrics. Some have reported success with the 50/50 cotton tees, but most prefer to use available digital printers that have the proper inks for adhering to cotton, or screen-print inks which are also formulated for cotton or 50/50 t-shirts. It is important to understand how dye sublimation printing works to be able to justi... (read more)

4. Dye Sublimation or Screen Printing: Which is Better?
June 29, 2014

LAST UPDATED ON: February 1, 2018 Without thinking about the cost, which is better - dye sublimation or screen printing? While you could, in theory, print a fabric banner using screen printing equipment (t-shirts are most often screen printed and they're made of cloth), the wider variety of things you can screen print cannot be printed using the dye sublimation printing process. Primarily Used on Polyester Fabrics Here's a short explanation to back up what I'm saying. Dye sublimation banner or display printing is almost exclusively done on polyester fabrics, whether it's ... 5. Can Dye Sublimation Inks Be Used On Others Than Fabric? How to Look For a Dye Sub Printer?
May 27, 2013

LAST UPDATED ON: April 3, 2019 Can a printer be used for Dye-Sublimation after already having been used with regular inks? No. The two types of printers are mutually exclusive to the types of material that are being printed. First, traditional dye sublimation printing of cloths and fabrics is done with a CMYO ink set, which is different from CMYK. The CMYO ("O" stands for the clear over-print) printing is printed to a transfer paper, and then applied to the fabric using heat and pressure. The "O" then becomes the black, so the net result is CMYK. Newer dye sub printers us... (read more)

January 23, 2012

With versatility an important the main printing process, various NPT inks have been developed for use on several different sublimation applications. Grasselli describes that, when transfer stamping, the lower water/dye ratio has the advantage of less paper cockling - and even offers the possibility of using a costly, lighter 100g paper. Companies using the inks when working with direct to textile printing have reported that NPT inks bleed a smaller amount and show higher colour values producing a higher quality print. Add to this the advantages of a faster drying and pressing times reducing... (read more)

October 25, 2011

Have you heard about dye sublimation in t-shirt printing? Well, this is actually a procedure which employs heat to transfer dye perfectly into a medium such as polyester. In this method, an industrial heat press is important so the correct mix of heat, time as well as pressure can be reached to generate a fantastic and radiant result each and every time this method is employed. With the correct combine of both heat and pressure, the inks will be effectively modified from its solid to gas state that helps it to be more effective in penetrating the medium surface.
