Matt Damon criticized “outrageous” stories in the era of fake news as he responded Tuesday to accusations that his role in the new China-Hollywood co-production “The Great Wall” should have gone to an Asian actor.

Chinese officials are being pilloried over the smoothing-over of a crumbling but much-loved 700-year-old section of the Great Wall of China - a UNESCO World Heritage Site - in the name of restoration.

SINGAPORE— A senior Chinese military official on Sunday rejected the U.S. defense secretary’s assertion made the previous day that Beijing faces “erecting a Great Wall of self-isolation” if its continues with provocative militarization of disputed islets in the South China Sea.

SINGAPORE— China “could end up erecting a Great Wall of self-isolation” if it continues with provocative militarization of disputed islets in the South China Sea, U.S. Defense Secretary Ash Carter said Saturday.
