Hundreds of Turkish police in riot gear entered Istanbul's Taksim Square early Tuesday, firing tear gas and a water cannon at a small number of anti-government protesters. A fierce gunbattle has erupted in the Libyan capital, Tripoli, between fighters loyal to Moammar Gadhafi and opposition forces trying to establish control in the city.
