National Children’s Dental Health Month – also known as NCDHM - started as a single day event in Cleveland, Ohio, on February 3, 1941. The American Dental Association also held the first national observance of Children’s Dental Health Day on February 8, 1949. This turned into a weeklong event back in 1955. Finally, in 1981, the program was extended to be a month long to be observed every February, and became National Children’s Dental Health Month. In order to show appreciation for their service to this country, Dr. Nancy Wiley is wanting to put a smile on American troops' faces by donating Easter candy that people with braces can't eat. Some men and women in uniform will not be able to come back to celebrate Easter with their family, but at least people can show gratitude for their service.
