1. Can Decals Damage Defroster Lines? And, Removing License Plate Stickers
June 15, 2015

LAST UPDATED ON: September 11, 2018 Will decals damage the defrost lines on my car's rear window? Someone told me that a sticker decal will cause damage to heater elements on my rear window. Is this true? While we assume no legal responsibility for our opinion on this matter, I will say, unequivocally, that this is untrue. The heating elements on your car likely will not get over 100 degrees Fahrenheit, and at this temperature, it is likely less heat than your rear window will see even on a hot summer day. I think that if you were to take a reading on the glass temperature (no... (read more)

2. Applying Car Decals on Tinted Windows and Removing Stickers off Laptops/Buckets
January 19, 2015

LAST UPDATED ON: July 13, 2018 When to Apply Car Decals on Tinted Windows? Before or After Tinting? It depends on which side you put the sticker on. Because window tinting is done on the inside of the glass, it would be a poor choice to put a sticker on the inside of the glass before the tinting is done. The person or company applying the window tinting will let you know how many days the tinting should be on the window before applying the sticker to the window. Of course, since there is no tint applied to the exterior of your car window, if you have a back adhesive sticker, ... (read more)

3. Removing Tough Decals Off a Car; Getting Non-sticky Stickers to Stick
December 18, 2014

LAST UPDATED ON: June 5, 2018 How to Take Off Car Decals with very tough Adhesive This is one of the most common complaints we receive when it comes to adhesive stickers, and one I've written about in the past, but it deserves another visit because it happens frequently and can be an annoyance. The good news is that it is not difficult to fix, and your paint will be in good shape when you're done. Even temporary adhesive stickers that have been on a vehicle or window over time will leave a perimeter glue residue on paint or glass, and because the glue also attracts dirt when i... (read more)

4. Removing Bubbles Under Vinyl Stickers or Decals
July 28, 2014

LAST UPDATED ON: February 11, 2018 Well, there are a couple of questions I have. Is it a face adhesive decal or a face-adhering static cling sticker? There will be different answers for each of these items. For Static Cling Stickers If it is a static cling sticker, you can remove it, wet it with lightly soapy water, re-stick it to the glass, and the water will evaporate out over the next day or two. We find that with static cling decals, often the decal will relax into the glass in two or three days and most of the bubbles will automatically disappear. For Vinyl Adhesi... (read more)

6. Removing Decal Stickers Off Helmet Visors and Car Windows
April 24, 2014

LAST UPDATED ON: December 25, 2017 How to Remove Decals from Football Helmet Visors If the sticker or decal that is on the visor is an easy peel vinyl, it should remove easily, but if it's a standard adhesive, it can be difficult to remove. In this case, what you'd need to do is get a hair dryer and heat the decal up enough that it is quite warm - but not hot - to the touch. Once this is done, get a fingernail under one edge of the decal and slowly pull it off. Hopefully it won't leave any adhesive behind. If it does leave some adhesive behind, you can get "orange peel" ... (read more)

7. How to Remove Wall Decals Without Damaging the Wall
February 09, 2014

LAST UPDATED ON: November 30, 2017 First, let me say what I hope to be the case, and that is that you painted your own walls prior to apply the wall decals or stickers, and not only that, that you did it the right way, which I will explain now. The Type of Wall Paint The paint that you put on your walls may have come from a large box home improvement store or from a specialty paint store, but for the most part, interior paint is interior paint, and the quality was most likely good if you were also able to afford wall stickers. So, assuming the paint is good, and that... (read more)

8. How to Install, Care, and Remove Vinyl Decals Off Your Car or Truck
January 23, 2014

LAST UPDATED ON: November 28, 2017 Will car wax affect the window decal on my car's window? Not unless it is a VERY poor quality sticker, or an interior paper sticker or label. The wax should actually protect the decal to a point, especially if it's a good quality exterior window decal. Because the decals are printed on a PVC vinyl material, usually an inexpensive but decent quality substrate, and combined with an acrylic adhesive to keep them on your window, the was will not affect the glue, and will add some shine and protection to the ink and the vinyl, thus helping it to las... 10. Easiest Way of Removing Rear Window Graphics
August 17, 2013

If you were to use a razor blade to remove your window tint or your rear window graphics then you will probably damage your rear defroster. So what we need to do is to find another safer way to do this. As an ex-window tint expert this is what I used to do to remove it. You can also use this method to remove your rear window graphics as well. What I would do is to go get the largest plastic trash can bags that you can find and try to cut it so that the bag is in just one long strip, so just cutting two sides of the bag will do. So once that you have one or two of those bags ready to use... (read more)

LAST UPDATED ON: April 5, 2019 Do wall stick-ons damage walls? Do guns kill people? The only way wall stick-ons (more commonly called wall stickers or wall decals) will damage your wall is if you don't follow the instructions for installing or removing them. Basically, to prevent wall damage from wall stickers, simply make sure your walls are freshly painted or degreased before applying your wall decals, then, when you take them off, if needed, use a hair dryer or heat gun to help the glue to release cleanly from the wall. For those of you who are wondering if you can re-... (read more)
