CAIRO— The brother and lawyer of Mahmoud Mohammed Ahmed, a 20-year-old Egyptian who was arrested for wearing a T-shirt with a slogan against torture, say a court on Thursday ordered his release on bail after nearly two years in detention without trial.
Ahmed was 18 when arrested on Jan. 25, 2014, the third anniversary of the uprising that toppled longtime ruler Hosni Mubarak. The day was marred by deadly clashes between police and protesters.

THE HAGUE— A United Nations war crimes tribunal is passing judgment Thursday on former Bosnian Serb leader Radovan Karadzic, a landmark case against one of the alleged architects of Serb atrocities during Bosnia's 1992-95 war that left 100,000 dead.
Karadzic will hear verdicts Thursday afternoon at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia on 11 charges, including two counts of genocide. He faces a maximum life sentence if convicted.

A prominent Vietnamese blogger and his assistant went on trial in Hanoi Wednesday on charges of publishing articles critical of the government.
Nguyen Huu Vinh and Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy have been detained since their arrest in 2014. Prosecutors said a series of articles the 60-year-old Nguyen Huu Vinh posted on his blog presented distorted, one-sided view of the ruling Communist party that would affect the people's confidence in its leaders.

HANOI— A prominent Vietnamese blogger who is a former police officer and the son of a late government minister will be put on trial this week for alleged anti-state postings, his lawyer said Tuesday.
Nguyen Huu Vinh and his assistant, Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy, are accused of abusing democratic freedoms to infringe on the interests of the state, an offense punishable by up to seven years in prison, said the lawyer, Ha Huy Son.

A jury in the U.S. southeastern state of Florida has ordered the gossip website Gawker to pay pro-wrestling star Hulk Hogan $115 million, ruling it should not have posted a secretly recorded video of Hogan having sex.
The jury announced its verdict Friday after a two-week civil trial.
Hogan, 62, argued that the 10-year-old video violated his privacy by showing him in an intimate situation with the wife of a friend. Hogan said the friend – a radio personality known as "Bubba the Love Sponge Clem" – recorded the video without Hogan's knowledge or consent.

ISLAMABAD— Authorities in Pakistan have allowed former military ruler, Pervez Musharraf, to travel abroad to seek medical treatment.
