I’m an avid moviegoer, which can sometimes be tough because some of the movie theaters I’ve been to are just not quite caught up with the rest of the industry. Movie theater chains have really cleaned up, grown-up, and in the case of the best cinema near me, it’s also become a brewery. Now, I know what you’re thinking, and yes, it does seem a little strange when you think about a brewery being housed in the same place you would watch a movie. In fact, the more you think about it, the stranger it sounds. I know some of you are trying to put the pieces together as best you can. Is a brewery trying to get more people in house by showing movies? Is a movie theater choosing to make beer? It’s a bit of both, but there’s so much more to it all. It’s best to think about how movie theaters used to be about twenty years ago. Patrons didn’t really have much choice in the way they saw a movie, and when it came to refreshments, the offerings were a little on the sad side. Finally, a theater chain came along and decided that things had to change. Movies are meant to be experienced, so the seating was made more comfortable. A killer sound system was installed in every theater to provide top-notch audio to every movie being shown. Cleanliness, order, and presentation were a top priority, and little by little, the movie-watching experience was taking shape. The next step was revamping the food and beverage options. Here’s where the cinema near me really shines. Food offerings actually mean having a legitimate menu available for moviegoers. Options such as street tacos, pizza, salads, and wraps were now actually available. As the food improved, the beverage game had to improve. My local cinema decided that its signature statement would be an in-house brewery that would produce proprietary, award-winning beer the likes of which you’d only find in the most chic watering holes. These beers were also crafted to be beautifully paired with the stellar food being served, and once you included actual actual service during a movie, you can see why my favorite cinema is a brewery. What I really like about this place is that it blurs the lines of being a cinema in a good way. Where there was once an often cramped, sometimes ‘iffy’ arcade that dumped into the lobby you find an open social area that works as a stand-alone restaurant. Moreover, my local cinema does what no other theater can — it creates a family-friendly environment in a setting that is geared, in many ways, toward a more adult-oriented audience. I can feel at ease with my loved ones but still feel OK hanging with some work friends & grabbing a cold one. Yeah, the cinema near me is something else, so the next time you come over, you know where we’ll be going. Believe me, your idea of “dinner and a movie” will never be the same.
