1. What about a squeeze page?.
October 12, 2021

You can’t afford not to build a mailing list, when it comes to Internet Marketing. No matter how well you’re doing in your affiliate business, you can lose everything at any time. Ask the countless affiliates who had their site bumped off the search engines, who had their PayPal accounts frozen, who were bumped by their partner websites for reasons they still don’t understand. The horror stories would shock you, but the one thing that they all have in common is this: If you don’t have a mailing list, you don’t have anything. A list of subscribers – real people who know you and... (read more)

2. The one big thing that'll solve almost all your email marketing problems
October 07, 2021

It’s been a while since I lurked through marketing forums. Recently, I came across a post where a user asked for advice on increasing his open rates in his email marketing. I skimmed through the responses and some of them were valid, in my opinion, like verifying your domain. As far as my knowledge goes, that’s the only thing on the tech side of email marketing that you have control over. But I also thought some responses were a bit overly complicated. For example: Finding the best day and time to send them. Split testing five different subject lines. Or util... (read more)

3. Why I heavily support my ways of emailing
September 23, 2021

Today, I’m going to make a short list of why I prefer my ways of emailing as opposed to the conventional way, also known as, the corporate newsletter way. Let’s get started: 1. There’s no need to use any drag-and-drop editors,no need to deal with any coding, and no need to deal with images. Simply type and send. 2. The content can easily be repurposed. I can take almost any of my emails and turn them into social media posts, expand them into long form articles, retell them in podcasts, and even use them when writing books. Fun fact: A good portion of How to Become an E... (read more)

4. Who my book is not for
September 21, 2021

If you’ve been on my list for a while, then you’ve probably noticed that my emails aren’t like the typical company newsletters you see. They’re text only, heavy on storytelling, and they’re focused on building relationships with my subscribers. And while I do heavily support my way of writing emails, it’s not for everyone. Here’s what I mean. I’ve been signing up on email lists of companies that do a lot of email marketing, and the main thing I noticed is that a lot of them send shorter, to-the-point emails. And I suspect they go that route for a few reasons: 1. T... (read more)

5. How to be a more selfish marketer
August 18, 2021

I saw a Twitter screenshot that caught my attention because it had to do with email marketing. ---------- I can't think of a more self-centered marketing statement than this: "Send more emails. It will definitely make you more money and if people unsubscribe then that's their loss." And yet I read or hear some version of it at least once or twice a month. ---------- So is sending more emails a selfish thing to do? In my opinion, yes. In fact, marketing in and of itself is selfish. When you’re marketing, you’re essentially promoting yourself, you’re promo... (read more)

6. Man, is running fun
August 11, 2021

Last week, I decided to take my daily walks up a notch. It was too easy, and I wanted a challenge. So I started jogging. I started off with a light HIIT-like routine where I jog for 30 seconds, walk for 30 seconds, and repeat. And slowly, I increased it to 60 seconds. Then, I decided to test myself to see how long I can jog for without stopping. Turns out, quite a while. As long as I jog at a certain pace and remember to keep breathing, I’m good. At that point, running out of breath isn’t really the issue, it’s a matter of how long I can jog for until my leg muscles gi... (read more)

7. Reasons why email is dead
August 04, 2021

On more than one occasion, I talked about why email is not dead and why the “marketing experts” who claim that email is dead or is going to be dead by a certain year are wrong. But today, let’s have a little fun and do something different. Let’s step into the shoes of the marketing experts and brainstorm some reasons why they’d say email is dead. Now, keep in mind that these reasons I’m about to list may range from reasonable, to debatable, to outright ridiculous. So without further ado, some reasons why I think marketing experts online claim email is dead are: 1. Thes... (read more)

8. Showcasing people's friendships with unusual animals
July 28, 2021

There are a lot of videos on YouTube about friendships between people and animals. There’s a channel called The Dodo that constantly puts out those types of videos. It’s a good place to go to if you want to watch happy content. But there was one video I watched where it showcased people’s friendships with animals that you wouldn’t expect people to have friendships with. For example, In 2014, Mexico banned exotic animals from performing in circuses. That’s when a man named Adolfo started a wildlife sanctuary to save lions. One particular lion, named Kiara, grew fond of ... (read more)

9. How to achieve a master level in copywriting
July 26, 2021

I did some self-copywriting training over the weekend. I was listening to a video recording of a seminar speech by Gary Bencivenga, who is often referred to as America’s Best Copywriter. In one of his speech segments, he talked about how to improve your copywriting skills, or any skill for that matter. The best way to do that is by doing something every week to improve at least 1%. And as weeks, months, and years go by, that improvement will compound, and eventually, you’ll achieve a master level. When it comes to copywriting, Gary Bencivenga suggested following his “Ad a D... 10. A cold email campaign that failed successfully with this friendly prospect
July 09, 2021

Not too long ago, I did a cold email campaign to promote my copywriting services. And the block of text below was one of the replies I got from a friendly prospect. ---------- There is something deeply ironic about asking someone to leave a voicemail if they call so you know they're not a robocaller, yet being quite happy to cold call by email in the first place! I think your sales technique needs some considerable work. On the basis of the evidence you've provided so far, I would be extremely reluctant to hire you - even if I was in the market for some support in this area... (read more)

11. Why aggressive sales pitches are turn-offs
May 21, 2021

I came across a video from Dragon’s Den, the United Kingdom’s version of Shark Tank. In this particular clip, two entrepreneurs pitched a machine that produces water out of air, which sounds cool and very useful if you’re in, say, a desert or a droughted area. They explained how it works, gave a demonstration, and the success of their product so far. Everything went smoothly. That is, until the five venture capitalists started picking apart their business model. Now, there were a few red flags: 1. They openly stated that their business model was going to be pyrami... 12. The story of unapologetic apartment trespassers
May 18, 2021

I can’t believe these types of people exist. Let me explain. On a podcast episode, there were two people (Dave and Ed) who moved into a new apartment in Koreatown, Los Angeles. After they moved in, they threw a house party where anyone in the town was allowed to attend. But that wasn’t the only party, they threw a couple of other weekend house parties as well. Soon enough, they pretty much established themselves as the new friendly, welcoming neighbors of Koreatown. And while it sounds nice to have a good reputation in a new neighborhood, this particular one came with ... (read more)

13. How to "architect" good emails
April 09, 2021

I once watched a video about a person who talked about his experience studying architecture in his undergraduate program. After watching it, the main thing I learned was: “Form follows function.” It’s a quote that you’ll apparently hear quite commonly in the architectural space. It basically means the shape of the building should relate to its intended interior purpose. Or to look at it another way, when architects start designing their new building, it’s important that they think of the people first. Here’s what I mean. If you have a building that’s uniquely shaped, i... (read more)

14. Some lessons I learned from my journey to become a hobby-level music producer
April 08, 2021

One of my associates just finished revamping a platform she’s been building for the past two or three years. It was originally a platform for freelancers similar to Upwork and Fiverr, but that concept went in a completely different direction too. Ever since I was introduced to the platform, I’ve been regularly contributing blog posts, at least until the platform went under construction. But recently, it had its grand re-opening and I submitted my writing piece for the first time in over one year. This time, I wrote my piece on my music production journey, which included the... 15. Why I Find Cold Emails Hot Now
April 07, 2021

I usually don’t talk about this, but I guess today is the exception. Somebody once asked me, “What makes an effective cold email?” Now, I’m no expert on cold emails. But when I wrote a cold email series for a client months back and saw some results, that made me want to start studying cold emails. So when I answered the question, I made two points. 1. It had to be attention-grabbing. 2. It had to be different. I didn’t say it at the time, but a third thing I should’ve mentioned was to make the email about the person you’re sending the email to. It’s obvious,... (read more)

16. I love a sport that doesn't require physical energy
April 05, 2021

One of my favorite sports of all all-time is archery. It’s one of the few sports that doesn’t require much physical energy, but that doesn’t mean it’s a difficult sport. If you’re familiar with archery, then you most likely know there are two different bows you can use: Compound bow and recurve bow. Compound bows are the ones that look more sophisticated and they’re easier to use. Recurve bows are the more traditional looking bows and they’re more difficult to use. I’ve tried both and regardless of which one you use, you need to be extremely consistent with your shooti... (read more)

3 Easy Fixes For Dryer Issues Dryers are a time saving, organization wonder in appliances, no need to wait for clothes to dry out forever or have to suffer with cold sheets in the winter, but like any appliances they can run into some trouble, that’s why Beaver Appliance Repair has put together the three easiest fixes for dryer problems. For A Dryer That’s Not Heating Make sure your dryer is on a heat cycle, if it’s only in an air cycle it won’t heat up. Clean out the lint filter, an excess of lint might clog up the hot air flow. 18. Why do people still design emails with HMTL & CSS?
March 24, 2021

There’s a lot of things I don’t understand about this world. One of the most mind-boggling things is the fact that us humans love to complicate things. Apparently there’s a psychological reason behind why we prefer complex over simple. We think that the simple ways to solve a problem just won’t work. I’ll give a perfect example. I had a discussion with a strategist from a New Jersey based marketing agency. At one point during our conversation, I pointed out how weird it is to still see companies create their email newsletters from scratch using HTML and CSS. Even ... (read more)

19. Neagle's definition of true security in my crooked version
March 16, 2021

Let’s go back to the days when I used to religiously listen to the content put out by the great business and mindset coach, David Neagle. I remember listening to one of his audios. I forget if it was a podcast episode or one of his recorded seminars. But that’s not the point. In one of his recordings, he was talking about the concept of what it truly means to have security. And I don’t remember exactly what he said either, so what I’m about to tell you is completely off by memory and is going to be extremely paraphrased. He said, True security has nothing to ... 20. The Case of Booty Calling Your Subscribers
March 01, 2021

In April of 2019, I purchased an affiliate marketing course from a rather nice New Zealander. Very useful course back when I worked on my old blog, EZPC Building. But that’s not what I want to talk about here. I was going through my inbox and I looked at all the emails he sent me from April 2019 and on. This man has been emailing me so inconsistently that I almost forgot I was on his list. Let’s just say, the number of times he emailed me is less than the number of toes I have. And when I looked through the content, everything started to make sense. You see, there... (read more)

21. Psychology Tactics You Can Incorporate to Your Emails Right Now
February 19, 2021

In my opinion, one of the most interesting parts of Joseph Sugarman’s The Adweek Copywriting Handbook is chapter 19. This chapter teaches you 31 psychological tactics you can apply to your emails and all your other marketing campaigns right now to make them more compelling and get your readers to buy from you. Here are some of the tactics he covered: 1. Honesty Honestly, this shouldn't even be on the list, it should be a given. But I guess he's got to mention it because there are people out there that still market their businesses in shady and dishonest ways. Frankly, those typ... (read more)

22. Ironic "Trends" of Email Marketing
February 06, 2021

I found a Quora thread that asked the following question, “What are the latest trends in email marketing?” One person responded with a long post where he listed and explained some of the trends that he observed. Let me share some of them with you here: 1. Usefulness Meaning sending email content that’s more educational versus blatant advertising. 2. Personalization It doesn’t just mean writing someone’s first name in the subject line, but sending relevant information. 3. Respecting the GDPR policy In other words: Not adding people’s email to your li... (read more)

23. Copywriting lessons from Indian call center scammers
February 04, 2021

One of my favorite things to do during my leisure time is watching entertaining videos. Specifically, videos of people fooling around with scammers from Indian call centers. You know, the ones who’ll call you to let you know that the IRS is going to sue you, or the ones who pretend they’re Microsoft tech support and will “help” you remove a non-existent virus from your computer. Usually, they target older people because they know it’s easier to trick them. But I’ve seen instances where they called tax professionals and police officers. On the surface, it’s a terrible thing... (read more)

24. How to Get Your Readers to Tune Into Your Emails On Demand
February 02, 2021

I don’t really watch a lot of TV shows or movies nowadays. If I do, either someone forces me to sit down and watch it with them. Or they recommend it to me and I get sold by their personal review. Back in the younger days when I did regularly watch TV, there was the amazing “On Demand” feature that allowed me to watch whatever show I wanted, whenever I wanted. My personal favorites: Phineas & Ferb The Suite Life on Deck Wizards of Waverly Place Spongebob Squarepants And many other Nickelodeon and Disney shows. But before the time of “On Demand,” you... 25. What the Wrong Email Marketing Questions Are That You Shouldn't Be Asking
January 25, 2021

I see this question so many times on the Internet. Forums, social media posts, you name it. “What’s the best email marketing software to use?” Or I see variants of this question like, “What’s the best email marketing software for non-profits?” “Which service is better, this or that?” To be honest, I think those are the wrong questions to ask. From what I’ve seen and used, they all function the same. The only differences are their pricing, the software names, their quirks, and unique features. For example, GetResponse has a feature where you can create your ow... (read more)
