The living standards of the today's generation is increasing, so is increasing the energy consumption to maintain this life style. Solar energy is the cleanest renewable source of energy and is being used to heat air as well as water for the residential and commercial purposes. There are photo-voltic cells that are used to convert the heat energy of the sun into electric energy that can be later used for the heating purposes. The solar heating systems are designed to reduce the use of the conventional heating systems by almost two third percent. Therefore this has a great positive impact on our dependency on the non renewable sources of energy and being environment friendly, helps to keep your environment free form the poisonous gases that are released by the conventional water heating systems. Solar heaters consist of two parts: the solar collector and the storage tank. The collectors heat the water and the storage tank is used to store that hot water. There is a common misconception that the solar water heaters are useful only when the weather is sunny, but the real fact is that the solar heaters are effective even on the cloudy days, they just need the sun to rise. There are two type of solar heaters: Active heaters and passive heaters. Active heaters are those heaters that require the electric support for the circulation of the water where as the passive heaters require only proper inclination for the circulation. As the solar hot water heaters are very effective, hence many governments are supporting this technique. Even the United States government is giving the tax rebates to the organizations and the residences that have solar water heaters mounted on there roofs. Apart from the tax incentives the other reason can be reduction in the electricity bills as well. In a study, it is clear the use of the solar heating panels can help in the reduction of the electricity bills by 60 to 70 percent. And the sun energy being absolutely free and its presence in abundance can be easy and cost effective source of the daily power. Having so many advantages, the solar systems serves a disadvantage, high initial installation costs. But this cost can be overcomed by the tax incentives and the minimum maintenance costs of the systems.
